Good movie but it had a slow pace to it and sometimes it was hard to follow.

The Shocker

^ I just got the first disc from Netflix of the old miniseries of this with Alec Guinness.

I read the book over 25 years ago, not much memory of it besides liking it.

How was this film? I saw previews for it and I thought it looked terrible.

Pretty damn good.  High expectations were met.  One of the better superhero movies to come out.

Too bad no Ed Norton.
Was Don Cheadle in it?
What Would Scooby Do ?

Pretty much. It had a couple of brief moments of potential but failed at every opportunity.
The soundtrack (loaded with B.O.C.) was good though

J. Edgar. Good movie and DiCaprio did a fantastic job. My only complain was it was a really slow mving movie. Otherwise, I enjoyed it.

This documentary is about the controversy involving raising exotic animals as pets. It's main focus is on two men. A man named Terry who owns two lions and Tim Harrison, a police office who helps rescue/capture these exotic pets. It's really interesting how people treat these wild animals as domesticated pets and how easily it is for anyone to acquire them. It seems like Ohio has a major problem since there are no laws against buying, selling or owning these animals.

Yeah, I'd say OH has a problem.

Hawkeye didn't wear a costume in the movie but he is wearing one in that movie poster. Interesting...

Oh and Great fucking movie!

The Divide

Plot: Nuclear war happens in NYC and a bunch people take shelter in their building's basement. As cabin fever sets in, and attacks from the outside happen, the group, morally and physically, start to decay, turning some into savages and others to fend for themselves.

Review: The first 30 minutes is kind of bad as you get your standard cheesy acting, lines. After that though, it starts getting intense and really never lets up as far as getting that claustrophobic/hopelessness feel. This is definitely one of Michael Biehn's best performances. One of the better post-apocalyptic movies since Blindness. If you've been feeling down, I do not recommend watching this movie as you'll only end up hating humanity even more.

3/4 stars

You nailed it. I liked it alot.

Lumpy

Rescued from sucking, based on the great performances from Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gylenhaall. It's sorta like a long commercial for AA. Pretty good original music. I'd give it a scant 7. It's enjoyable but loads of cliches pile up.

I'm way behind the times w/ reviews, sorry dudes.

For some reason I was expecting it to be a lot better than just a solid action film .

GodShifter

I saw 'The Avengers' a few days back.

I was totally prepared to hate it, but I didn't. I haven't even seen any of 'The Hulk' movies, the 'Thor' one nor 'Captain America', so basically I was familiar with 'Iron Man'.

Anyway, some good actions sequences and amazing special effects; very entertaining overall. It helps to have some working knowledge of the Marvel universe, of course, but it's not mandatory. As I said, I went thinking, "this is going to be meh" and left feeling pretty positive about the whole experience. Recommended.

CanookieWookie

John Carter.

I have never read the book(s), so I had no idea what to expect. I can say I was not overly impressed with the movie, although the story seemed pretty decent. The way the movie played out was sorta slow.  Plus it looked cheap to me, and the acting was bad.

Andrew Blakk

Those who made the biggest impact recently are:  :)

Warrior (awsome movie)
The troll hunter (hilarious... The trolls can smell cristian blood!!!)
Tinker tailor... (slow but really good)
Conan O'Brien can't stop...

Lumpy

I'd give it a 6 or 7.

On the positive side, the Red Skull is awesome, as is most of the nazi-related stuff. I liked the first 30-40 minutes where Steve Rogers is skinny (they stick his head on a little guy's body). Stanley Tucci is good as the doctor who develops the super serum.

The bad: it really helps if your lead actor has some personality (example: Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man, Tobey Macguire in Spider Man). This guy is bland as shit and conveys almost nothing. Incomprehensible action scenes in the middle... "stuff happens". Plot is rarely engaging, after the beginning. 15 minutes wasted on embarrassing Capt. America "war bonds" sequence (anybody know if this is true to the comic book? That would help explain).

Not in the same league as the first 2 Spider Man or Iron Man movies. Could have been a lot better.

Oddly enough I liked Capt. America. Although it did get boring in the middle part of the movie.

However I will say, imo, it is miles better than any of the Spiderman movies -- which I found terribly boring and bad.

I agree w/ wookb.  The characteristics you describe as "bland as shit," Lumpy are pretty true to the canon of Cap's "shucks gee gosh" all-American persona.  Aside from the overreliance on montages (even Rocky's got a montaaaage), I thought Cap contends w/ Thor as the best of the Marvel "slow build to avengers" flicks.

Also, I hate the Raimi Spiderflicks unabashedly.  Dunst ain't hot enough to be MJ by a mile.  >:(

Woody Harrelson as a crooked cop who gets caught on camera beating a civilian who crashed his car into his police cruiser.
