Anyone ever pick anything up using their pay as you play program? I put an order through for an SG last night using it. Haven't heard anything back on whether I was approved or not but apparently they approve pretty much everyone. Keep yer fingers crossed for me!

I used American Musical Supply(americanmusical.com). No approval necessary and they split the payments up in 3 or 5 payments, but you get your gear after you make the first payment! I have used them alot with much success. I even made some returns that were effortless and exchanges that were done within a week. ZZounds is pretty good but i have had great experiences with AMS and will always sing their praises.

BTW- That SG is fucking badass! That pic is like porn...

word, so they approved me for the payment plan. It's back ordered though, so i have to wait a couple weeks for it to ship....I'm bummed and stoked all at the same time.

Yep, I'm a huge fan of AMS too.
I've spent WAY too much money with them over the years because of their 5 payment plan.
Almost every piece of new gear that I've bought over the last 6-7 yrs. has come from them.
They keep a great selection of Gibson guitars too (I've heard they are the #1 Gibson dealer in the nation).

I just recently bought some stuff from ZZounds but haven't used their payment plan yet.

Whenever you get that SG report back with the quality. I picked up a Les paul studio at GC yesterday, and it literally looks like they nipped the frets and put it out the door. The board was bone dry, everything was... piss poor. Plastic nut... plastic pick guard... meh.

I'll definitely let ya know. I'm expecting to have to get it set up anyway, so if he has to do a little fretwork, that's not really gonna hurt my feelings. The nut is corian whatever the fuck that is. I didn't even notice it before. Any experience with corian? Should I just plan on getting a bone nut installed when I drop it off for the set up?

Corian is a product developed by DuPont for use as a counter top material.
It's very dense and actually is one of the better choices for guitar nut fabrication.

I've used Corian as well as Tusq (another dense polymer) in lieu of bone on several instruments that I've replaced nuts on in the past.
I have absolutely no qualms about using it and figure if your guitar plays good and sounds good then there really isn't going to be an astronomical difference tone wise between the stock nut (Corian) and bone.
It could be argued that Corian is brighter than bone but I certainly wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a blindfold test between two otherwise identical guitars.

Eventually I'll stop playing this thing long enough to take some pictures of it, but rest assured, this guitar is fucking AWESOME! As for the quality, it was really good right out of the box. It needed a little tweaking on the setup but nothing major. No complaints about the fretwork or anything else for that matter. I'm assuming that between the Gibson factory and my house it probably went through a few temperature changes, so I let it sit over night and set it up about an hour ago. Plays like a fucking dream. This is my first guitar with a Rosewood fretboard and I dig it. Pictures coming soon, I promise!

YMMV.

Unless you keep your guitar somewhere you might put a hot cast iron pan down on it, Corian works better for guitar nuts than it does for countertops. It's a nice, hard material and it sounds bright and clear to my ears.

Hey, did you notice your guitar is backwards? Very cool score Black out. I about ready to get on board with zzounds, cept every time I check it out I keep upgrading my buy until I can no longer afford it. Total greed thing.
