Spring Breakers

Not very good.  Yes, lots of tits, coke-snorting and weed-smoking but little else.  About thirty minutes of story stretched out to ninety.  Bottom line: boring, even with the lingering camel-toe shots.  Franco is good, the cinematography is nice, the girls are okay (though annoying) but there just isn't a lot of there there.  Sorta my reaction to the other Harmony K movies.  Kudos to the marketing team who sold it as a fun romp when it's really kind of depressing and white trashy Florida.  It's more hallucinatory and elliptical and a lot of people in my theater were put off.  But people clapped at the end so what do I know?

So I should go back and watch Bully again for my white trash kids in Florida movie?

For sheer amount of tits n' debauchery?  No.  But for an actual narrative and story?  Yes.

Don't discount Bully.  There is some choice nudity in that movie too.

And it does have a Harmony Korine connection.
