The best burgers in LA are from Grill 'Em All. They used to be mobile only, but they now opened up an actual restaurant in Alhambra:

The best, IMHO is the Behemoth.

Edit

For breakfast (sunday brunch), I like going to Dusty's in Silverlake. They have really good mimosas:

For pizza, this is a good place:

For Mexican food I would go to either El Compadre http://elcompadrerestaurant.com/ or Casita Del Campo http://casitadelcampo.net/
Casita del Campo has an awesome happy hour...

I could play Stairway to Heaven when I was twelve... Jimmy Page didn't actually write it until he was twenty-two... I think that says quite a lot..

that place looks killer..i want the 'waste 'em all' and the 'molly hatchet'..

Don't know if you're coming out to Portland area or not but if you are let me know.  Lot's of Mex places that are in weird places i know that are killer.  none are hip food trucks that you may have seen on TV.  it would help if you speak a bit of Spanish.

hey dallas peeps, get on this- i wanna see your suggestions too.

pittsburgh

best burger - burgatory http://www.burgatorybar.com/

best breakfast - lots of people will direct you to pamela's (http://www.pamelasdiner.com/) and it's okay. their corned beef hash is pretty good.

best pizza - spak brothers http://www.spakbrothers.com/  a bunch of crustpunks work there, they've got a couple pinball machines to play while you wait for your order, but it's really just a take-out place. near art galleries and a few small concert venues (like 50 people small) and this place is always packed when there's a concert. they also do the BEST chicken wings.

bonus - pho minh vietnamese restaurant is cheap and awesome. the rare beef pho melts in your mouth.

vancouver

best burger - the moderne burger (http://www.moderneburger.com/). you gotta wait forever because they make the fries from scratch, but their burgers are the best. the beef is spicy, and they've got lamb, salmon, turkey too. so good.

best breakfast - i never really found a good breakfast place here. just go to one of the 10,000,000 sushi restaurants instead. or if you're desperate, go to bon's off broadway (at east broadway and nanaimo). it's not great, but they do all day breakfast for super cheap. very greasy, if that's what you're after.

best pizza - uncle fatih's (http://www.unclefatih.com/). all of the specialty pizzas are amazing and they deliver all over the city.

bonus - budgie's burritos (http://www.budgiesburritos.com/). vegetarian burritos. really good, you definitely don't feel like you're eating a vegetarian dish. so filling and spicy and wonderful. the place is pretty hipster (framed velvet paintings of dogs on the wall, etc.) but them hipsters make a mean vegetarian burrito.

im down with the home cooked corned beef hash..

burgers and pizza? no BBQ?...hmmmm...okay I guess.

Seattle:
we dont do pizza very well here...avoid. theres a place in ballard where there are alot of the clubs are that is decent. I think they actually serve it out of my favorite club to play here, The Sunset Tavern.
burgers-not the best, but the best fast food is Dicks Burgers..if I were passing thru with a band, this is where we'd go. its quick its good its cheap you can eat em in the van.
Taco's-"El Camion" Cart next to Home Depot on Aurora at 115th-not near any clubs I know of, but you can check out Cobains old heroin hotels and pick up some hos while youre in the area. Its actually my neighborhood  :D Bring me by a burrito  from the cart and I'll get you and your band stoned on legal weed.
Breakfast diner for a band would be Beths Cafe -Order the 12 egg omlette and share. Yes, thats a pizza tray its served on..

You tend to eat near where you play or stay so lemme know the club and youll get more feasible recommendations

have fun and avoid rest stop fast food if you can.

I've always tripped out on the seemingly lack of great food in Seattle.  I know there are great places but I just must be used to Portland where there is an awesome restaurant or food cart every 10 feet.

All bullshit aside, check out some Food Network shows, like "Man vs. Food". He goes to different cities and tries some of the best restaurants in the city, but also some of the most over the top in terms of serving portions and ultra picante stuff. But he goes to some great BBQ joints, burger places, and taco stands. He goes to "Beth's Cafe" in the Seattle episode, for instance, and does the omelet challenge (and fails).

Scoff if you will, but some of the places that Guy Fieri visits on "Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives" (maybe I didn't get the order there exactly correct), look fantastic. Then there's "Food Wars" and whatever else on there. Some of those places have to be good, I'd think.

I have to agree. Coming from NYC it was really hard to get used to.  Id ask someone where all the good restauarnts were and they'd say "try the sphaghetti factory!".  >:(
We got salmon here, thats about it.I DO like Dicks alot tho.*did I really just type that?

In most cities, your not going to get to the club and then have time to go sit down and eat at "the best" place in town, even if its only the best hamburger or pizza place in town. You are not going to be having a Mr. Beef in Chicago, LuLu's BurgerHaven in Omaha, or Peter Lugers in NYC, they arent near the club you are playing . You're better off finding stuff near your venue.

Exception for places like Philly where inevitably you get some drunken locals to fight over who is going to take you to the best cheesestake place afterbar and in the south where they want to show you their favorite bbq place is the best. Getting the locals to take you out is awesome if you can swing it.

There are a couple places around the country I would drive an extra hundred or so miles to hit. Skylight Inn in NC, DReamland, in AL...they are all BBQ places....

I started spending a lot of time up there in about 89-90 and after late nights of rockin and boozin we'd always be like , Ok where's the killer bfast joints?  And our buds we say we could go to Dennys or some shit.  I remember one time we drove around trying to find this place near Gasworks after staying in Northgate.  it was less than memorable and all they had for hot sauce was Tobasco.  I always thought it would be a good idea to open a killer bfast joint up there.

I'm not a big breakfast guy and one thing i absolutely cannot do is stand in line all hungover for thirty minutes to be seated at some ...hate to use the word but..hipsterish diner. Theres a BUNCH Of places like that in town, and Ive had to eat at a couple when company was in town, and the foods good and all and its nice to eat in aroom full of young attractive college age womens but screw standing in a line for half an hour all hungover.
I liked Austin , where youd just grab a couple breakfast tacos, coffee and juice on the street, no lines, no pretension, no partys of 8. but I cant do the brunch thing here in seattle or places like minneapolis...some cities thrive on that, everyone goes out on sunday for brunch together all hungover.

Beths is casual, very punk rockish. still...Id rather just stay at home.... but we're talking about traveling bands so..Beths it is.
The 12 egg omlete is a freakshow.

For some reason seattle seems to be lacking in mid range or working class eateries in my opinion.  Unless you count pho.
Portland is kicking our ass in so many ways.
