Did some fanagling on Craigslist this afternoon, and scored a Peavey VTM60! I've been lusting after a single channel tube amp forever, and this one more or less fell in my lap. I know some of yinz guys either use them currently, or have in the recent past. Any setting suggestions?

Nice work, I've wanted to play through one of those bad. I'm running through a Butcher now and LOVE it, but I'm curious to hear what those dip switches do. JJ tubes in the power section really wakes those amps up.

i have one. i love it. i run mine clean with just the "low 1" dip switch engaged. JJs in the power section for me as well. sounds really good

as for settings i run my master about 8 and use the pre volume about 5. it's pretty loud. low at 6 mid at 4 high at 5 or 6 and presence at 3 (that presence is SUPER spikey). then i hit it with a rat pedal.

The Butcher, Mace, and VTM are always on my watch list. I also look for the Triumph and Ultra...but I'm happy as hell to land the VTM. I'm a Peavey whore, I admit it.

Agreed Sunn. This kid also had an Ultra Plus that he had butchered (no pun intended), and I almost felt like it needed to be liberated as well, but I think it was too far gone. I just spent aboot an hour messing around with it, and dialed in a bitchin tone almost immediately. No noise, no pops, crackles, squeals, or anything else that would make me believe I've been taken for a ride. Also, the tolex is pristine, the metal corners are scratch and rust free, and the serial tag still has the f'n plastic on it. Somebody really loved this amp for 20 some odd years. Win.

If it's just cosmetic damage to the ultra+, see how much he wants for it, and send it to me. I'll build you a mahogany/walnut head case for it, it'll look like furniture. hahaha.

Yeah man, the case is fucked, and he disconnected/did away with the LED Peavey logo. Ass clown. There should be LAWS. Sounded absolutely crushing though. You can't keep a good amp down.
