When it's on my amps cut out and/or make weird sounds. It goes away when the machine is done with a load.

all those lights, PA, bad 50 year old bar elctrical wiring...everyone hits low e string at same time...

wiss-CAN-sin. it's more north than parts of Canada. this is the most likely ghost in the machine.

I heard the story about neil young and his amp. it was his baby for so long he could tell within a volt or 2 what the mains voltage was at wherever he was playing.

Good idea but they aren't cheap. I think I'll just not play and wash at the same time.

Probably on the same breaker, I think the whole basement is. I imagine I could fix that if I had any knowledge of that stuff but I don't. It was probably upgraded at some point but evidently not very well/not enough/keep in mind I don't know what I'm talking about.

ya do that, dont settle for a cheaper version. they are nice to protect expensive amps from unforseeable stuff, if you can cut off the problem at the start it might even be better for that one instance.

later on just think of the horrible hole in the wall clubs and tons of lights, fans and everything plugged in with front of stage loud as possible!

I have some cheaper ones and you can hear appliances in them a bit like I plug a fan into the same furman strip and I hear it in my speakers some, to me that is not good

youll just wanna upgrade really

mainly consider a surge protector as cheaper defense, Ive seen dudes amps get fried cause of bad electrical sockets

Hmmmm, coincidence? Receptacles unless improperly wired spit out 115-125v depending on the utility company. Usually they like to push the voltage towards 125v so as to reduce voltage drop. If the ungrounded and grounded conductors were swapped some sensitive electronics could be fucked, I've seen a fancy tv take a shit because of this. Also, some moron could have managed to wire the receptacle hot + hot = 240v but this sort of thing gets notice real fucking fast. I don't see the receptacle being the only outlet on the circuit so lights and other receptacles would also get the incoming voltage that the amps took and the entire building is being fed from the same transformer. So, unless you are an electrician with a proper tester I'd go with E.D.'s solution and use a power conditioner and a pocket of fuses. Clubs are wired for shit.

Just did a show the other night. All power was non-grounded 2 prong outlets. that put me 30 minutes behind schedule running around looking for a hardware store to purchase some ground lifts. I carry one in my bag for emergencies, not 10+ to cover everything.
