Did you have to route to get them to fit the HB opening?  Looks cool.

matched the hb ring holes exact
no drilling
they are flush mount so they cover the hole
electrical tape in space between until i fashion something
i had to trim the pickguard

Good timing on this thread.  The old lady is out of town all week, so my other guitarist and I have been taking advantage of that to do some guitar tracking for our next record, and drink a bunch of beer.  At the end of last night I decided to snap a quick pick of all the guitars strewn about:



Tele on the couch is mine, the strat is a rental because neither of us own a guitar with a trem and we wanted some whammy sauce on one song, other tele next to it is his, all the ones on the wall are mine: Tokai Love Rock, Dillion Firebird set up for slide (high action, open E), Gibby SG, Martinez 12 string, Yamaha acoustic

Dig the Firebird!  Always wanted one of those.

Yeah, I dig it.  The only problem is that the mini humbuckers SCREAM with feedback anytime you stop playing, if you've got any kinda gain or reasonably heavy tone setup.  Even swapped them all for a GFS set but the problem didn't go away.  That's why it's a dedicated slide guitar these days.

Left one is the 1987 MiJ Ibanez RR-250 in pretty bad shape. I bought it for about 250 bucks. I use it for my shitty black metal bedroom project.
Right one is cheap vietnamese SG copy w/ GHS 13-60. My sludge guitar.

It feels like im playing a mini guitar when I go from the armstrong to the firebird. It's weird.

A buddy of mine has 2 of yer guitars in one, it's a goldtop Ibanez Artist. That thing is to die for.

I would not recommend the Ibanez, it plays nice and the neck is a nice shape but the maple neck combined with the big headstock, the smallish lightweight body and the double cut design makes it neck dive like crazy. There's a pound of fishing weights in the control cavity and it does nothing.

The Explorer is Korean and the wood is crafted amazingly well, really high quality. The electronics and horrible stock pickups were easy enough to replace but this guitar is just too big for me to get along with. Doesn't sit right on me and I keep hitting doors and stuff with it.

I play the two strats, PRS and the SG the most. The SG is ok, the neck is maybe a bit too fat and it flexes a lot but the P90 sound is worth it. The strats both play awesome. The PRS is the real surprise. Korean again. The stock pickups sound great, plays awesome, stays in tune, electronics are good. I thought I would break a lot of strings on that wrap around bridge but somehow it's fine.

I'll try that. It's a bolt on neck so it should be relatively easy to move the strap button there.
