from reading so far, it seems that larger wattage resistors tend to be quieter.

do any of the different types exhibit more freedom from noise.   that ant and most everyone uses carbon composite resistors.

are there only just a few key resistors that really need to be watched for noise?

thx again :)

metal film and yes larger wattage means less noise, also larger value means more noise 2.

Whilst slightly on the same object; does this also apply to parts for pedals? Like, is there an audible difference between let's say 0,25W and 1W resistors?

maybe in background hiss but it depends on which noise factor is dominant. in say a fuzz pedal their is considerably more gain than say a chorus or whatever modulation effect so the fuzz will amplify outside sources of noise so idk if resistor noise is the most dominant in that case.

Pedals are damn forgiving on lead dress and layout

Cool, thanks!

3 kinds of noise.  wow.

i did not know this

the discussion towards the end regarding the real world and compromise was some key info too.

8D   hey i found a used capacitor online. it is set on a pallet to ship and weighs about 220 pounds. mucho farrads and mucho kVA heh. the size of a beefy trash compacter or something.  new it was $6700, but these guys had a deal going on...lol
