Err $240 for the So Watt ;) and it's already assembled.

But then it is sans tubes, cab and speaker.

$400 - $500 seems to be the average kit price.

They're not actually too bad on this, theres +/-340AC on the rectifier tube, and it puts out about 330DC or so. That's low for tubes, some people run them down to 260DC.

I got my first shock at 4, 240V courtesy of UK domestic supply and a lamp in my aunts. Over the years, I've had blasts from the backs of monitors, and oscilloscopes when I've been silly, this 120V stuff that you call power over here ain't terrible :)

You could build this, and it could work first time, you'd never have to deal with the live unit ;)

Anyways, despite what I say, never do something your not comfortable with, say no to peer presure ;D

I really hate working under cars on jacks and stands :o

I've been trying to wrap my head around this for a while, when the layout mentions sending something to ground, is it a common ground, or do you find the nearest possible ground to put it to? Wouldn't that make a bunch of loops?

Usually it's grounded to the chassis. Which is usually fairly quiet, as it's a single solid conductor. Or at least my Alamo is :)

Right, I understand that, but I count 13 points to be grounded on that layout, how do you avoid making a shitload of ground loops? Perhaps it's just something you have to see to understand?

I seem to be one of those people that if there is a bad ground on something I'll find it.  50 other people can touch it and nothing I grab it and Zap >:(

Did that Thursday, stupid mistake. Despite having a grounded cord, my B100 has one of those 3 way power switches, that reverses polarity in one direction. Silly bugger was trying to find a working speaker cable, and was holding the metal case of the input jack in one hand, and of the speaker jack in the other.
