Texas mortician Bernie befriends the small town's wealthiest widow and then kills her. Despite the suspicious nature of her death, no one wants to think anything but the best of Bernie.

I dug it. Fun.

Funny (but a thick Texas drawl always makes me smile). I was surprised that some the interviewed were actual people form Carthage and quite a bit of the story was fact-based.
Should be seen on a double-bill with "West Of Memphis" (for comic relief).

just saw star trek into darkness. as a popcorn action flick, i thought this was great. i imagine hardcore trekkies will hate it, though, because it lacks all the science and exploration that star trek is known for. even though i like these movies, think they're exciting and well done and fun, they aren't really star trek to me. the science officer does no science, but he does kick plenty of ass. eggs benedict cummerbund was really good in this, too. as a summer blockbuster, 10/10. as a star trek story, 7/10.

it actually makes me a bit worried about jj abrams doing the new star warses. i believe he'll make an exciting film with a lot of heart (which is already a bajillion times better than lucas's prequels were) but i don't know if he'll capture the tone of the original three star wars films (which, again, lucas didn't do either).

Yeah but the real story in life of pi was sad. The cook killing the chinaman and the kids mom. Then the kid killing the cook and be on the boat. Because you know that's what happened right? That shit is sad. What was the island all about? I didn't get the meaning of that.

I liked it too.  I could give a shit about the trekkiness of it all.  And I never want to see Chris Pine in such bee-stung-lip closeups again.  But it had some funny stuff, some nice banter, Quinto was good, Cumberbatch was good, etc.  About 20 minutes too long. 

I don't care about Star Wars either but apparently JJ is a SW fan and was never a ST fan so as right as he got the new ST films, hopefully he'll be even better at the SW films.

This was a rather boring movie, but Schwartzman was great in it. Probably the only reason I watched the whole thing.

speaking of movies Schwartzman's great in (even if in a cameo), this movie rules.  I saw it once and thought it was cute, but upon further viewings it's become my fave Wes Anderson film.  Bruce Willis is even good in it!

Another classic I hadn't seen yet. An older music buddy put on the soundtrack last september when we were driving back from a gig, it mesmerized me and the following months I played it frequently. I had put off seeing the movie 'til the moment I thought the time was right. When the above mentioned movie theatre played it, I knew this was the right time. Seeing those images on a big screen was intense.

It's about a salesman for a natural gas company that experiences life-changing events after arriving in a small town in Pennsylvania, where his corporation wants to tap into the available resources. This wasn't bad and I suppose its worth it to rent, but it certainly wasn't Van Sant's best film.
