Highly recommended.

I saw this last weekend and I thought it was quite good. Excellent performances by Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain, in my opinion.

The movie, for those of you that don't know about it, centers around a construction worker (Shannon) who begins to see and hear things that lead him to believe that there is an Armageddon like storm/event that is eminent. He begins to work on his storm shelter in the backyard which causes huge problems for his family for a number of reasons. Meanwhile, he begins to doubt his sanity as he experiences visions and dreams that are highly disturbing.

It's a good movie and I agree with wstf that it is highly recommended viewing.

I also saw Bridesmaids which, while it has some funny parts, tries a little too hard to be gross/funny, but, at the same time, put some seriousness about the nature of relationships (friends and romantic) in as well. If it had gone full on comedy it might have liked it a little more, but it seemed to try and do too many things and I didn't think it worked real well.

Additionally, I saw Real Steel with Huge Jackoff, and thought it was embarrassingly terrible. Easily one of the worst eye rolling movies I've seen in a long, long time.

Tale of a kid who saw his mom killed in a carjacking and ends up being a night time crime fighter/killer. I really liked the movie, but the acting is pretty terrible. If you can get past that it's a fun dark movie with a cool ending. The revenge movie.

It was alright a father played by Martin Sheen travels to France to recover the remains of his son discovers that his son played by Emilio Estevez (also real life son) died while on the pilgrimage called El camino de Santiago. He decides that he will complete the trek for his son.

I'm seeing John Carter and A Separation over the weekend pretty excited for both.

Coffee and Cigarettes - I'm not a Jim Jarmusch fan (I liked Ghost Dog a lot...) this one is short scenes shot over the course of several years. Whether it's even worth a Netflix rental is debatable

The scene with Alfred Molina and Steve Coogen is really great, and Kate Blanchett plays a duel role (cousins) that almost made me want to watch the scene again, when I found out they were both her. Just underscores that most everybody else in the movie is not a real actor (or a good actor).

It got mixed reviews from critics but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Interested in getting the books this movie was based on.

I laughed a good amount throughout this movie. Worth the rent.


EDIT: For review. Basically it's about a pair of rednecks and a group of college kids vacationing seperately in the same remote part of West Virginia. The college kids are scared of the rednecks because of the stereotypes that are associated with those people. (Deliverance) Anyway, some of the college kids start dying and of course they blame the rednecks. To make a long story short the rednecks have to prove to them that they're not muderes and are just normal people.

I was at a friend of a friend's house yesterday and it was either watch this or sit through a wedding video. I chose the lesser of the two evils.

I didn't need to hear an earful from my ladyfriend so I just suffered through this movie. I did however enjoy the opening and closing credits because they had twins talk about what it means to them to be a twin. I guess being a twin myself a lot of the stuff they were saying applies to my brother and I.

I saw 21 Jump Street this weekend, and it was a wretched experience both visually and physically. The facility's air conditioning unit wasn't working only in that particular theater, and being that it was a fairly warm, humid evening, well ... not fun.

Secondly, the movie, while having a few funny lines and gags to it, was, overall, pretty much a stupid mess. It freely makes fun of itself in that it's another re-hash of an old popular show (and a character in the movie even references old, tired rehashed stuff -- movies, ideas, etc). Yet, at the same time, the movie, of course, tries to have some semblance of a plot, character development, and, yep, a bit of a message. So, the total parody idea -- out the window (it would have been a better angle, imo).

It wasn't a complete disaster as movie, but pretty darn close. Not recommended.

I Love You Philip Morris - kind of like "Catch Me if You Can" I guess (?) Well-written, fun, con man/caper type movie, with Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor making out with each other... a lot (it's also a love story). Interesting to see that Jim Carrey is a better dramatic actor than Ewan McGregor (I thought so). I liked it. Solid B.

The Sentinel - kind of a slow mover, very 70's catholic/occult deal. Star studded cast, but ultimately lacking the thrills it could have potentially had. Not bad though. B-

Decent comedy. I love Charlize Theron so even if it's a terrible movie i'll still watch it because of her. Basically, its about this woman who receives an email from her exboyfriend thaty shows the announceent for the birth of his new child. She(Theron) takes this as a chance to go back to her hometown and try to win her ex's heart back. What made Theron's role great was that she was an alcoholic and she constantly made an ass of herself because of it. It even caused her to sleep with Patton Oswalt.

I Love You Philip Morris - kind of like "Catch Me if You Can" I guess (?) Nothing great, but I enjoyed it. It's about people who like to bird watch and they compete to see who can see the most amount of different bird species in one calendar year. It didn't have that many laugh out loud moments, but I like Wilson, Black and Martin so I stuck through the film and I didn't come away from it disappointed.

Yeah - the Beverley D'Angelo masturbation scene might be the best part of the movie -- great scene.
