Best Eminence Guitar Speakers for 2x12 for Sludgey/Doom/Post/etc

Hello,

The subject gives it away but I am building a guitar rig and was thinking of building a speaker kit from this kit website that has decent reviews and actually am not sure what kind of speakers to throw in it.  Anyone have any experience with these kits or opinions on speaker choice fire away!

My brother put an Eminence Swamp Thang in the 1x12 he built - we don't tune down a lot or play with super heavy tones, but it has a nice big presence to it for sure.

I like the Bill Fitzmaurice stuff, I've never heard one of his guitar cabs but I have an Omni 2x12 (from Craigslist, I didn't build it) which was loud AF (until I blew the drivers with too much bass). It's a multi-purpose cab (bass, PA, keyboards).

Unless you're good at woodworking and want a project, I would just look for an existing cab. Despite what Bill Fitzmaurice says, "bad" designs work just fine. The main difference with his cab design is that the speakers are directed up (you can just use a stand, cinderblocks, etc). If you're on a stage, speakers that point at your knees are probably a good height for the audience.

I don't know a lot about speakers, but a lot of people like those EVM-12L speakers which sometimes come in Mesa Boogie cabs. They are flat response (no frequencies are dominant) with good low end. Very heavy, and expensive too. (I think I remembered the name right). A lot of people like those Mesa straight 4x12 cabs with those speakers. Those speakers aren't made by Eminence though.

Skip forward to 13 minutes in, to hear the comparison between EVM-12L's and a knockoff version from Warehouse Guitar Speakers (the EV's are clearly better)

Thanks for your guys input I'm going to keep doing some research before I make a decision.  I think the EVM are a bit out of what I wanted to spend $$$ wise (looks priced similarly to the Guv'nors) but do sound really good from what I can tell and can take a stupid amount of power.  I gotta make it to your next show Ted and hear it, last time I saw you guys the guitar sounded pretty insane.

I was thinking the angled upwards would help me because I am really tall which is problematic on small stages.  I don't want to bring cinderblocks or stands either I am planning on taking my solo project live late this year or early next year playing guitar with a couple of backing synths/drum machine with a raspberry pi w/ pisound to distribute the MIDI patterns.  I was thinking of taking a guitar 2x12 with a powered PA 2 way 15" speaker for the synths and drum machine on stage.  All of the clubs in Chicago have pretty good PA support so I'm not as concerned with volume as much as tone...Except the Mutiny which MIGHT electrocute you slightly but is fun to play at.

I really enjoyed the Eminence Wizards I had in my ButtPussy 4x12. Load but very clear, almost like Fanes.

two of those in a good 2x12 should give you enough power to compete with most bass players.
