We were killing it last night. Just nailed this doom song's atmosphere. Dripping with mood and damn near hypnotizing. Heavy as fuck.

Then the drummer says, "dude, that was too damn slow." And the bassist is like, "yeah, I almost fell asleep playing that."

personally I believe in serving the song.  the only thing would be to establish what exactly the team goal is for the evening.
Then there is no whining or crying once you are in it.

and yes, subtractive musical statements are next level and not instinctive at all WRT one's ego.

Heard a great quote from a 60s hit writer that went along the lines of, "the better song writer can communicate the same thing in simpler words."

Really changed my approach.

i can sustain forever, once the chord decays into feedback it will continue on and i still consider the feedback to be the chord technically speaking.
