New Mammatus is out.

Only on my second listen but enjoyable spaced out Mammatus riffs.  Very good stuff.
Killing threads is my business and business is good.

Ryno

Is this a completely different lineup from the first two albums?  Thought I remembered there was some sort of shakeup.

I think it's just a 3 piece now.  Read: they just lost one member.

Not sure.

It's on Spotify/iTunes and is in similar vein as previous albums.

I just shelled out a whole $7 for this and am very happy I did so. Fucking riffage.

I think these guys have got to be one of my top heavy rock bands.  No band sounds like them and they are psychy and awesome.

At the price I paid, it was like $0.85 per year I waited for new Mammatus.

If I had a dollar for every girl that found me unattractive they would eventually find me attractive.

Track 2 6:00 minute mark mind melt.

Track any minute mark any - mind melt.

Brainbow floats somewhere in the ether between Zombi and Brent Hinds pull off licks, yet sounds nothing like Zombi or Mastodon.

Album quickly rising through my top ten list.

Yeah these dudes somehow ride that weirdo-nerd-psych thing (think porcupine tree) and take the ultra dorky wizardry and turn it awesome.

I think it has a lot to do with acid.

The Coast Explodes has been in my top ten since it came out but this climbs daily.

I said something to my friend, to the effect of "they must have had their drinks spiked with LSD like 1400 times or something, bad luck."

Good luck for us.  ;)

First track kinda drove me nuts with it's uncharacteristically monotextured progness, rest of the album was the follow up I've been waiting for for 7 years.

I'll give the beginning another shot though.

I saw one of the band members say on F@CESP@CE there are some songs from the follow up to heady mental in one of the live sets posted here: https://archive.org/search.php?query=mammatus%20AND%20collection%3Aopensource_audio

Love the first two.  Bought this, spun it twice, and it's not grabbing hold yet.  I will let it sink in, but there is almost too much heady, mental shit going on and not quite enough of the stuff that made the first two albums so great.  I was expecting one thing and received another.

Maybe I need more time...
