Preferably free.

What are you guys using that you really love?  I'm also looking for any type of presets like I used to have on my Roland VS-2000 digital recorder; it had one for recording bass guitar that really made things easy for me.

Any links and reviews would be appreciated.

kvr didnt have that gate ?

Haven't seen the reverse noise gate anywhere.  I'm gonna see if I can just run my drum track through the Roland and use it as a mixer when I get around to re-recording that track.  Busy with another one right now.

I think some of those gates have a reverse function...but they arent called "reverse gates".
If you already have the outboard effect that you want...yeah try and use that.

This old rack unit from the 80's? 90's? has some awesome gated verbs and shit. good harmonizer as well. but its outboard .

Cool, I'll check out those plug-ins, thanks.

So, it should be possible to run from my Firepod, through the Roland recorder, and back to the Firepod in order to use the Roland plug-ins?  I guess I'll find out when I try it, but I'm just asking in advance.

Honestly Ive never used any outboard effects on pre recorded tracks before so Im not sure how that works......i think you use the same DAW i do if I recall corrrectly? Tracktion 3?
is That what that "re-wire" function is all about? Im pretty novice at this shit...

I made the mistake of upgrading to Tracktion 4, and apparently...it doesn't like BFD2 drum software.  Motherfucker crashes constantly (at least 15 times last night), but they're supposedly gonna fix it very soon with an updated version.

As for Re-Wire, I don't fully understand that.  I was talking about running from my Firepod through my Roland recorder to access its plug-ins and presets, and then back to the Firepod for recording, though.  I'll find out if it works.

Have you checked out the tutorials that Tracktion has?  I've started watching them and am learning more and more.  Scroll down this page a bit, and there's a complete list of videos by subject.

I watched those tutuorials a long time agi and thought they were pretty good. Ive forgotten most of that stuff tho as I dont use it.

what I liked about tracktion, especially tracktion 2, was that it was bone simple and super easy to use. I record in a fairly conventional and organic way so I dont end up using alot of the bells and whistles they added in TRacktion 3.

Tracktion 3 came with a bunch of vstis...theres one drum machine one thats pretty good and definetly has reverse gated drum sounds on it.
Learning how to use that drum machine is a chore in itself tho...linplug RMIV  think its called?

(poulin also has many great ampsims, check them out)

Also I used some weird synths but - unfortunately - my computer died and I lost my backup DVD somewhere so I don't remember their names. As I use FL Studio (:D) i just use its basic synths PLUS my fave free VST...

Plug & Mix has a thing where if you like their facebook page you get a free plugin. They've got some cool stuff, I got their "Echoflex" delay and it's pretty sweet.
