We just released our third EP and are picking up with the number of shows. My shitty work schedule makes it hard to play these shows but so far I'm managing. Were starting to get a pretty good amount of positive feedback. Threefoldlaw.com

Just finished mixing four tracks for a cassette release. Working on some new tunes. Got a show coming up with Might Could in September I think...Trying to nail down some dates for a little four day tour in November.
cool, on the cassette release. im all about cassettes as the 'new' way to release music. my band has a cassette out with another on the way..hopefully.

tottally agree. It's about as economical as it gets, it's cooler than a cd or a cdr, and with band camp you can give away free download codes. Plus out bass player runs a little cassette label, so that doesn't hurt  ;)

Was it you that put something out on 905 tapes?
By my side I keep my things that I ne-uh-ed! Rest in peace is gonna set me free!

Transitioning to 2-piece because our bassist suddenly quit.

We'll see what happens. The material isn't really suitable for 2-piece, so hopefully this will be a temporary thing.

POG + Jon's ACC rig...

I think I'm just gonna split my clean signal at the tuner & into the Acoustic. But thanks for the suggestion. I promise we'll get this worked out!

And thanks for your support, justinhedrick. It's appreciated.
Livin' The Life.

Hemisaurus

Octavers, especially octave down's are pretty cheap, and effective, especially with a clean signal taken from the tuner.

Dano Chili Dog or French Toast get praise for $30-40, and I can vouch for the  Behringer US600 for $50.

Shame his bass amp doesn't have one built in, a few do.

Justin, I think this thread would be more aptly titled What is your band missing? :-\

Writing new material for 3rd record. Playing with Lo Pan on the 20th of august.

Metal and Beer

Seahag is in a writing cycle, much needed and long-awaited. We have enough now  for a new EP we're gonna record with local badass Will Boyd at some point this summer/autumn, and by then we'll have another EP worth of stuff. We're playing with Pallbearer on Aug 13th, then with Suplecs, Rue and a bunch more at a big ol' fest on Labor Day Wknd. (details in the Live Events sub-forum)

Holy Angell is a new band I'm in with Phil and Alan from Deadbird, it's very fast punk/grindy/crustrage; pretty much opposite of the typical Arkansas heavy slow sludge. We've only been together a couple of months but the songs are flowing pretty quickly. We're also playing both shows mentioned above, and still deciding how to release our stuff. Our drummer has a killer recording setup, we're gonna be able to record for essentially no cost.

Chlorpromazine and I are in the Tom Sweet Band, too, but we haven't been jammin' lately. He and "Tom" are in new roles in local heavies Zucura so they've been focusing on that.

Been an interesting summer for me.  I got in a band in April but quit in May due to scheduling (I work night shift and making early Sunday afternoon practices after working 4 12 hour night shifts in a row was triggering my migraines and just killed me - couldn't handle it).  Right now I have a lead on working a day job so I might be looking for a group shortly.

Otherwise I am slowly working on my solo project and want to try to get a 25 min or so demo recorded.  I have a bunch of stuff written but am being really lazy about recording it.  I do have this really cool 15 minute song but I am waiting for the tech 21 oxford I ordered to record the guitar (have to DI everything) so its unlistenable currently just being programmed drums and a smatter of synth and bass.  I also am trying to start something with this guitar player from work but am a little leery about it because he has different influences (mostly radio-friendly metal like Avenged 7x) but hes a cool guy so I figure its worth a shot.

Hemisaurus

Well Hemi should be a 3 piece, not a duo, the solo, yes, but I'm waiting for my new air conditioner for the practice space. You remember last weeks weather of course, and this week is more of the same :(

Löwe is playing with Cough on the 7th of September, Praying is playing on the 31st at a big local reunion show, and... playing with the Body on the 10th of Sept.... exciting.
Nice.  I am just curious but how is The Body?  It got recommended to me on amazon and the clips sound interesting but I am trying to save $$$ right now.  The album cover is absolutely hilarious.

LogicalFrank

Sun Splitter has played w/ the Body twice. They were awesome the first time we played w/ them and even better the second.

ah yes. none of my gear is in any sort of airconditioned space. makes practice in this weather a real workout!

i'd love to hear the solo stuff. I really like thrones, plus it should be easy to schedule practices, no?  ;D

If you aren't averse to it, hit me up, and I'll shoot you a link to that album. They play with a 14 piece choir, if that's indicative of how awesome they are... The Body fucking rules, and they're great guys.

Last time I saw the Body, there was maybe 40 people in a tiny room? Nobody was moving, so I took it upon myself to use my entire 6+ foot wingspan to move all of the people in my vicinity, then it became a giant slow moving mass of fucking awesome. Arm over arm, foot over foot. I love that gigantic amorphous blob of slow moving people... I mosh a lot.

Metal and Beer

The Body are fantastic. 3/4ths of Holy Angell (everyone but me, basically) grew up with Chip and Lee, they're all great friends since they're from here originally.
We're playing with 'em on Sept 13th, I forgot about that show. Sunn0))), y'all should jump on them shits, maybe play a couple shows on your way up here (or back?)

I would fucking love to hop some shows up there in Ar-Kansas. I wish I could swing the time off work, Do we have an open invite for whenever?

Chip is great, fun to talk to while you change out a pot in his guitar at 2AM, he's great fun.

I'll go with the what is your band missing.
Mine is missing the following
1. Talent (except for our new guitar player)
2. Decent material
3. Motivation
4. The ability to decide on a proper name
5. The ability to stick to a proper practice schedule

eyeprod

Bummer to hear, Alan. Best wishes.

My band (the Hard Ride), will be raging in about a month. Not much music has been going on for me in the past 8 months other than a solo project, and a couple of shows I played with the band. It's a long story... The bassist moved 5 hours away for school, and then I moved out of state for work. We played live when I've gone back to visit and it was great and like riding a bike. Now I'm moving back in a month. The drummer and I will be working on new tunes, of which there will be plenty, maybe some recording and of course some live shows with our bass player. I can't wait.

shit looking for a damn drummer to join the band. we got plenty of riffs and jams to work off of.

Instant Dan

What band?

Trying to get something started, even compromising, but I just won't play white-man corporate blues, guttural death metal, or tight pants rock.

180 Proof is in the middle of recording our second EP.  A song from our first EP is on the front cover CD of the current issue of Classic Rock magazine, which goes out to 70000 peope, which has been pretty good promo and we're pretty stoked about it.  So we're trying to get this next release finished while we still have a bit of momentum.  In the meantime we're also looking for another band to release a split 7 inch with, on coloured vinyl.

It's very weird to be in a band that's getting a little bit of attention and even selling the odd CD over in the UK and Germany, but at home seems to be stuck on the bottom of the pecking order of Melbourne bands.  Did a show on sunday, was a total clusterfuck, the singer from the headline band got into a fight the night before and couldn't do the gig - he also had his phone stolen, so we didn't get word about them cancelling until half an hour before doors opened.  We ended up playing to 3 people - well, 9 if you include the bartender and the other band - and made 5 bucks.  We'll be doing gigs this weekend and the weekend after, and then take a break for a month while the bass player has to go out of town for work.  We want to do an east coast tour sometime late spring/early summer.  Our plans to go to europe didn't work out.
