Been in a Nic Cage mood lately, some of these have been god awful:

Inspired film making of the highest order. Editing, writing, quirky ideas - all the pieces fit and the performances are all top notch, maybe the best movie of 2015. Did I say that I really liked this?

I read the book and the film does a good job of condensing it down to 2 hours.  I would recommend this for both the quality of the film and because you need to be informed about why things went south in 2008.

If I had a dollar for every girl that found me unattractive they would eventually find me attractive.

#2059

100% nudity 90% of the film

I loved it, I thought it was a very original story, and the actors were spot on, very long, but very good.

Not a "so bad it's good" film, but it was funny, and watch once and forget

Meh

Cool, straight-forward reporter movie, almost old-fashioned. Reminded me of the last Wire-season and then I realized, after checking IMDB, that director Tom McCarthy played reporter Scott Templeton in that season. Cast is great although I have a hard time watching John Slattery and not seeing Roger Sterling.

The Revenant  9/10

Really? I usually agree with you but I was a little underwhelmed, and I think Inarritu is a brillant director. Production, cinematography, direction and acting, everything is close to flawless but the story was weak. If I had seen the movie without any idea what it was about it might have been different. But even having a general idea of the storyline made the first half too predictable.
After saying that, its still a good movie but more 6 or 7 out of 10.

Haven't seen it yet, but doesn't Leo get raped by a bear?

Well, I guess that's what made the difference, as I went in without having any idea what the story was. Thought the name of the movie did pretty much give a lot of the plot away.

And you're right that the story was predictable. But I don't think it's about that.
I think for the first time someone actually made a "comes back from the near-dead to exact revenge on everyone" movie that was entirely believable and convincing, which in itself is not an easy feat.
I also think the atmosphere, acting and music were all fantastic. I would be fine with Leo finally getting his gold statue for this one.

Jeruzalem - Not bad, not great..low budget-y feel to the creatures, but held my interest. be warned; it's jumpy "google glasses" filmed perspective.

Room - Solid, solid film. Should do well in the Independent Film Awards

April 9th - Danish entry into the WWII film genre. Another good interesting take on a different angle of the German invasion of Denmark. Worth a look.
