Thinking more on this, I do appreciate a caffeine burst prior to playing our set. Last show, I grabbed a Pepsi with ice from the bar and that was just right. The time I drank some of my guitarist's Monster, too much and we (I) played everything real fast.

I always get a cola before playing, usually I start drinking it, and forget it somewhere. No points in the set where I can take a drink.

We've been playing this section for 18 months. but drummer had to play it safe due to being utterly baked, so same boring fill every turnaround. Pretty annoying. Also guitarist needs dreads so we can look bit more like Dragonaut video Sleep.

I'd have to agree that alcohol totally fucks with my creative process. I get sluggish and only think of cliche, simple boring repetitive riffs/notes. Also really hinders my timing.

Shrooms are amazing, they make everything sound better. I'm usually too busy actually tripping out with friends or doing other things other than songwriting on them though, and they are only a once-a-year kind of thing. They DEFINITELY enhance creativity and positivity afterwards though.

For me- the ultimate drug, which I abuse daily- CAFFEINE. I will sometimes procrastinate trying to write something until I have some, and even get frustrated if I consume an energy drink/coffee and get distracted and not write anything, feeling like I "wasted" it.

Usually though, I'll be playing for a bit, get the ball rolling on a song or riff, then grab a coffee and bang out 1-2 songs in like an hour.

Caffeine is the shit. I even wrote a song about it lol

I find first beer or two is the creative bit, new ideas come then. But the 3rd makes them hard to act on.
