TV sucks

aside from watching sports..fucking tv sucks. I tried to watch a movie on fx today for the first time in about 6 years and it was equal parts movie and commercials. it was fucking horrible. I forgot how much I hated tv because of that..

I never watch TV anymore, and the commercials are one reason. Remember when cable TV didn't have any commercials (or like one commercial ever 15 minutes?) If you have to watch commercials, why the fuck should you pay for TV too? It blows my mind that people pay over 100/month for that shit!

TV is in the shitter and has been for some time. I remember 10 years ago when MTV2 re-launched Headbangers Ball and I got excited. You'd watch like 1 video then 10 mins of commercials followed by some hairdo emo-metal BS, then another half an hour of ads. The reason I bring it up is because it's indicative of all tv nowadays and you pay for the cable networks, so why the increase in ads.

All of our digital converter boxes have stopped working now too. Fortunately, we watch everything online, but should we want to use the television we have to order and pay for new boxes even though we've upgraded to digital tv sets. Remember back when the coax cable was all that you needed.

I don't have cable and all I watch is the news on my TV.

What I don't understand is why there are so many TVs in public buildings. The local laundrymat has 8 TVs. My gym has over 30 tvs (one in the mens room). I don't get it.

the thing I don't understand is why don't the tv networks get it?? im guessing they must be losing people/money because of it, especially given the options available now..the frequency of the commercials seemed worse than I remembered it to be.

I think a 30 minute show has 8 minutes of commercials and 22 minutes of actual program. That's how it used to be, anyway.

Occasionally I pirate stream sports from an American website -my Aussie girl doesn't speak Dutch so to compensate the fact that I'm watching sports, I at least watch it in English so she can understand it- and the commercials at half time shows are the worst. I stopped having a tv several years ago, I stream/download everything I need.
