who here has treid what?

I have the  whammy which does a shitty job on the harmonizing in my opinion.
I have the Boss PS5 SuperShifter, which does an amazing job of harmonizing and has a ton of other cool features, but I think mine is broken. It makes some crazy unwanted noise even when off now.

anythign else out there? anyone use any? eventide is kinda too expensive
I love the sound of a good cheesy harmonizer. Boston, Pink Floyd..etc.

truthfully I guess i juts turn it on and go "oooh" and then turn it off again, never used it live or on a rcording, but its a pretty powerful 'ooooh" when I do stomp on it.

The Whammy works better at tracking for me than the PS-5, and sounds less artificial (though the Whammy still sounds a little artificial to me). I think preference depends on what you're feeding into it -- what's in your signal chain - (plus personal taste etc).

Boss is supposed to have a new PS-6 (link)*... plus a few older models. I've heard the PS-3 is good, but it's like 150 bucks on the used market, and I don't need a better solution than the Whammy to try it. Biggest problem with the Whammy: it's huge and heavy.

VOLVO)))

The Boss are the best units I've been able to find. Sound good for bringing out the swedish DM sound from time to time.

The whammy's awesome. I'd like one of my own.

The problem with the Boss units - you're supposed to know what key you're in.

Key???

The Whammy is dumber, and therefore better for me.

I'll give the whammy another try and see if I cant get a good harmonizer out of it. I only use it for the octave up whammy right now.

Just put the Boss in the key of Em and go! I think having it in key heps it track better.
It IS a complex pedal tho, some great sounds in there.
I like the whammy function on it, you can get dj like scratching noises of out of that by tapping it with your foot.
I will check out thePS6, maybe I will sell my ps5 to an unsuspecting music store i dont like, and trade up... buwahaha

Pedal chain:Loop 1:>Zvex Octane 3 -killer fuzz>Whammy>Fox Wa Machine Vintage>Boss CS2 mij compressor>Loop2:>Rams Head Big Muff>Maestro Phaser>Rat lm308>TS808 tubescreamer reissue>Loop3:UNivox Superfuzz>Boss PS5>Boss TU2 tuner>Line6 DL4..a/b to amp heads, one to showman w/ Space echo and fender stand alone tube reverb unit, one to amp selector>marshal 18 watt, Guild Thunderbass, Blackface Bassman. I built the three loop looper and it has a kill switch to take me direct from guitar to amp with one stomp. Two of the amps have killer amp tremolo so no need for a trem pedal.

wow, they really changed the PS6 from the PS5 alot.
I will have to go try one out.

I have one of the née Harmony-Man's and it tracks and sounds great plus it can figure out what key you're in from a few chords or just do fixed intervals. It's pricey but cheaper than the Eventide which sounds amazing. The whammy has always been glitchy sounding a's have the Boss pedals I've tried...that's not what I was looking for but some folks like that sound.

tried the whammys harmonizer again last night and it just blows. That pedal has a billion settings and only three good ones. Octave up. plus octave for the Iron Lung sound, and 2 octave up. Also I like to use the whammy WITH a harmonizer sometimes so the whammy needs to stay on octave up.

I'll look for that Harmony Man , clockwork

too bad this is $500..holy crap what a shitty demo video. why does he wank off for the first thirty seconds? "weedley deeeley deeeee!"

The Harmony Man is around $250 new and often much less used. The proguitarshop.com clip is pretty good. One thing is they all suck if you bend notes which sounds like what the guy in the Eventide video is doing.

sold guitar center my broken ps5 and a fulltone ultimate octave pedal , they gave me good money for both and then another 10% off. so i got the ps6 for $25. also bought a vintage EH bass balls for $40. I guess the occasional visit to GC aint such a bad thing afterall. They even had two fender tweed deluxes in their used gear section. they were both over $2K tho.

tried a les pau standard while waiting for them  ot test my pedals and the thing sucked. hated the matte finish on the back and sides. tuners seemed cheap, guitar just didnt feel right.
