I think I should cut my re-finish teeth on my Flying V. Remember the basket case thread I started on the old board?  Still got it.

1984 Gibby designer series with a Kahler locking trem. The neck was broken off a long time ago, some Yngwei fan scalloped below the 12th fret on down. Really, it's a mess, that I have allowed the kids to bang on.

It needs a new fretboard, finish, and logo re-do. Finding a maple fretboard in this scale has been a challenge.

Vinyls.   deal.

VOLVO)))

Get a hunk of maple and cut the slots yourself... I love those gibbys, my buddy had one and sold it before I could buy it. I cried.

I wish we had a DIY thread... I wish all of you dudes did crafty fun shit. I may have to find a DIY forum.

So start a DIY thread. I have half the tools (and wire) to do a fret job, and a beat-to-shit donor neck to fuck up. Would be keen on following along.

I also have a G&L F100 that needs stripped/sanded/filled/re-drilled that I need an impetus to start.

I just mapped out the fret locations and plotted them out here at work. Might follow yer advice.

I do crafty fun shit. I just don't have any guitars that are broken and serviceable. Closest thing is my G&L El Toro, that has a twist in the neck. I got to send it to the warpedneck.com dude.
My '75 jazz needs a refret and a refinish though. Maybe I should dive in.

Lately, my hobby has been turntable refurbishing. Get em cheap, and make em shine.

I've got about 5 Garrards waiting to be refurbed.  Their mechanicals are as complicated as old British sportscar electrical systems and just as reliable.

I have a Garrard Zero 92 that I intended to refurb as well. The armature on the motor has a flywheel glued to it that historically comes unglued. On mine it was fine, and then it wasn't. Getting them lined up again and glueing them is a chore.

I have basically given up on it and using the parts in other ways. The tonearm is really weird on it. I'll stick to the Duals for now, and use the garrard for cleaning records.

Yeah, Duals are nice.  I sold one for a friend and I was really tempted to keep it for myself.  Ran like clockwork.
