...for an all-mahogany Firebird with fullsize humbuckers. I've got a Duncan Phat Cat (P90) on the way for the neck position, what would be a good match in the bridge? I like GFS a lot for the bang/buck ratio, but I'm willing to pay Duncan/DiMarzio prices if necessary. I'm going to use this guitar in a heavy rock/stoner band btw.

Rio Grande BBQ and SD Custom 5 I have been very pleased with in all-mahogany guitars

what tuning and strings?

SD recommended the c8b/pearlygatesN - I play heavy rock and want em when I can afford it:

Yeah the amp plays a big role in how your pickup will react.  I got an RD with a super distortion and it sounded shrill through my matamp.  It now has a classic 57 and the balls are back.  I also recommend the custom 5.  I use that in the bridge of my sg with a mean 90 in the neck.

Relatively low-gain amp, I have a small Laney Lionheart head right now but I also have a 200W Hiwatt clone project going. I'll probably stick to drop-D or drop-C tunings (.011-.012 strings).

SH-5 would be a good option? I might be able to score a used one.
