Kingbathmat is a progressive stoner rock band form UK. Their new cd "Truth Button" is a solid piece of work, it mixes a grungey heavy rock guitar sound with dreamy, melodic, psychedelic interludes. You can hear shades of "Queens of the Stone Age" in the cd, but unlike josh homme and all, Kingbathmat offers up much more diversity, with strong vocal harmonies and experimentation that constantly surprises you. I don't believe I have heard a band that has skillfully managed to mix the energy of 90's grunge with the long complex arrangements of 70's era prog and then create a sound all of their own. The instrumentation, astonishing musicianship and inventive compositions make this a class act. While clearly influenced by the prog-rock of the 1970s, Kingbathmat does not sound dated, and provides a fresh take on progressive rock.
