So I talked about this guitar quite awhile back. Didn't pull the trigger then but I did today. '03 1960 Classic with ugly but sturdy neck repair.

don't know what pups are in it but they sure do sound thinnner than my un-potted T-Tops in my '78. It sure does play nice. Just needs a few minor things. Strings, some lemon oil, resoldered input jack.... I likey.
probably weighs 5 pounds less than the '78 too.
Sweet. WTF is that on the neck/headstock? Looks like concrete or plaster from a cast.
Fiberglass.
No shit? Never heard of that before.
At least it looks like fiberglass...
I concur, but I suppose it could be some other patching product.
It's fibre glass mat and resin just like it looks
Can I sign your cast?
Does it feel real thick? If so do you think you could sand it down and see what's underneath?
Or maybe just paint it to make it a little less obvious.
Once the fiberglass is laid, it can be sanded to perfectly smooth, and contoured. I might actually do this to Xayx's les paul. I'll probably use carbonfiber, though. Regular methods have failed me, so far. I've rebroken it once, already.
this guitar is a full on player. Dont give a fuck. Not looking to re-sell. I'll make up some story about it with a shark in it.
cool. looks like a sturdy repair

Will that make it go faster?

Good god! My Epi studio has turned out to be heavier than I'd like, I can't imagine anything even 2 or 3 pounds more. My back hurts after about 90 minutes.

If it works. I pinned it, and it snapped again. : /
^^under string tension??
Honey burst/AmberBurst are my 2 fave LP colors. Congrats on a kill.

Under string tension. There's just no wood left. Im finna get pissed off and strip to the scarf joint, and use maple in place of mahogany. Removing the fretboard without ruining the binding is going to be tough.

Yikes. That sounds like an enormous pain in the ass.
My '78 could use a fret job but imma skeered. :'(

Refret or level/crown?
You can do the level/crown really easy with a radiused sanding block and multiple sandpaper grits, and a stewmac crowning file...
