Lately I've really been liking the sound of the Pharaoh with the fuzz turned way down, just using it as a slightly dirty boost, but I also like the sound of the fuzz knob cranked... I'd actually like it if it had a bit more gain.
Should I get a second black Pharaoh to go with my gold one so I can run it both ways or would it be better to get a LSTR for the high gain stuff?
Anyone own both of these?
Slightly off topic:
I have a couple fuzzes set up like you mention. Now I don't own any BAT products, but I do have a Dunwich Fac Off Fuzz. I like it for the hi gain fuzz sound more than my muff variant (used as a boost like you).
I listened to a bunch of demos and I figure I should just pull the trigger on a LSTR.
$150 is a good deal so why not.
I run the LSTR for main dirt, Pharaoh for boost. It's a winning combo.
LSTR is much more compressed and saturated than a pharaoh; I can cop a quick and easy dopesmoker tone from it on my Ampeg V4. The pharoah is much looser, more open, not as gainy and there are people who have stacked them with complimentary settings
The Pharaoh feels so much more clean to me. Clearer.
Agreed. LSTR for more gain/compression.

You can have both... in the same pedal. ;)
This is true. I briefly discontinued the Sarcophagus, only to be persuaded by demand to reprice and start up again.
57 dollars for the pedal.

I use a looper for everything so I'm not that into combo pedals or pedals with multiple switchable modes.
Going to grab the LSTR, just ordered it!
