mine is taking a break right now because our drummer had a baby.
meeting with the synth player tomorrow night to work on new songs for a 4 song concept EP that we are recording in the fall. bass player might be moving back to his hometown 2 hours away, so i have a new one lined up if that happens.
other than that nothing is going on with my band. what's going on with yours?

Löwe is playing with Cough on the 7th of September, Praying is playing on the 31st at a big local reunion show, and... playing with the Body on the 10th of Sept.... exciting.
man, you are busy boy!
yeah, guitar in Löwe, and drums in Praying. It's kind of great.

Just practicing and writing new material. It goes pretty slow naturally, just because we're all pretty laid back people, but we've had a lot of delays and set backs this year so far. Injury, infirmity, family emergencies and the like making it difficult to practice regularly. It's coming along though, hopefully the second half of the year will go more smoothly and we'll be able to get a new recording out next year.
We are supposedly taking a break from playing shows so we can work on new songs. We are the least prolific band ever.
My main band (The Black Budget) is on hiatus but I have been asked to play drums for a couple reunion shows with Members of the Press. Not sure if I will or not.
is so nice to hear that other bands have so much life get in the way of music.
frank, i doubt you guys are the LEAST prolific band in the world . . . we are!

Transitioning to 2-piece because our bassist suddenly quit.
We'll see what happens. The material isn't really suitable for 2-piece, so hopefully this will be a temporary thing.
things have been unusually slow this summer. a few venues here have been harder and harder to book gigs. i have had more bands than ever ask to help with shows and i cant do shit for them. which is very frustrating.
our big event is the experi-MENTAL music fest we are playing in august in brooklyn. should be a great time and hopefully makes up for the lack of shows over the rest of the summer.
if any of you are around nyc the first weekend of august..check it out.

We just released our third EP and are picking up with the number of shows. My shitty work schedule makes it hard to play these shows but so far I'm managing. Were starting to get a pretty good amount of positive feedback. Threefoldlaw.com

I think I'm just gonna split my clean signal at the tuner & into the Acoustic. But thanks for the suggestion. I promise we'll get this worked out!
And thanks for your support, justinhedrick. It's appreciated.
Octavers, especially octave down's are pretty cheap, and effective, especially with a clean signal taken from the tuner.
Dano Chili Dog or French Toast get praise for $30-40, and I can vouch for the Behringer US600 for $50.
Shame his bass amp doesn't have one built in, a few do.
Justin, I think this thread would be more aptly titled What is your band missing? :-\
Writing new material for 3rd record. Playing with Lo Pan on the 20th of august.
Seahag is in a writing cycle, much needed and long-awaited. We have enough now for a new EP we're gonna record with local badass Will Boyd at some point this summer/autumn, and by then we'll have another EP worth of stuff. We're playing with Pallbearer on Aug 13th, then with Suplecs, Rue and a bunch more at a big ol' fest on Labor Day Wknd. (details in the Live Events sub-forum)
Holy Angell is a new band I'm in with Phil and Alan from Deadbird, it's very fast punk/grindy/crustrage; pretty much opposite of the typical Arkansas heavy slow sludge. We've only been together a couple of months but the songs are flowing pretty quickly. We're also playing both shows mentioned above, and still deciding how to release our stuff. Our drummer has a killer recording setup, we're gonna be able to record for essentially no cost.
Chlorpromazine and I are in the Tom Sweet Band, too, but we haven't been jammin' lately. He and "Tom" are in new roles in local heavies Zucura so they've been focusing on that.

i have both of those dano pedals. they are pretty cool for what they are . . .
hemi, what about the "thrones" band you are in? i didn't realize you were missing anything!
Been an interesting summer for me. I got in a band in April but quit in May due to scheduling (I work night shift and making early Sunday afternoon practices after working 4 12 hour night shifts in a row was triggering my migraines and just killed me - couldn't handle it). Right now I have a lead on working a day job so I might be looking for a group shortly.
Otherwise I am slowly working on my solo project and want to try to get a 25 min or so demo recorded. I have a bunch of stuff written but am being really lazy about recording it. I do have this really cool 15 minute song but I am waiting for the tech 21 oxford I ordered to record the guitar (have to DI everything) so its unlistenable currently just being programmed drums and a smatter of synth and bass. I also am trying to start something with this guitar player from work but am a little leery about it because he has different influences (mostly radio-friendly metal like Avenged 7x) but hes a cool guy so I figure its worth a shot.
Well Hemi should be a 3 piece, not a duo, the solo, yes, but I'm waiting for my new air conditioner for the practice space. You remember last weeks weather of course, and this week is more of the same :(

If you aren't averse to it, hit me up, and I'll shoot you a link to that album. They play with a 14 piece choir, if that's indicative of how awesome they are... The Body fucking rules, and they're great guys.
Last time I saw the Body, there was maybe 40 people in a tiny room? Nobody was moving, so I took it upon myself to use my entire 6+ foot wingspan to move all of the people in my vicinity, then it became a giant slow moving mass of fucking awesome. Arm over arm, foot over foot. I love that gigantic amorphous blob of slow moving people... I mosh a lot.
The Body are fantastic. 3/4ths of Holy Angell (everyone but me, basically) grew up with Chip and Lee, they're all great friends since they're from here originally.
We're playing with 'em on Sept 13th, I forgot about that show. Sunn0))), y'all should jump on them shits, maybe play a couple shows on your way up here (or back?)

Chip is great, fun to talk to while you change out a pot in his guitar at 2AM, he's great fun.
I'll go with the what is your band missing.
Mine is missing the following
1. Talent (except for our new guitar player)
2. Decent material
3. Motivation
4. The ability to decide on a proper name
5. The ability to stick to a proper practice schedule
Bummer to hear, Alan. Best wishes.
My band (the Hard Ride), will be raging in about a month. Not much music has been going on for me in the past 8 months other than a solo project, and a couple of shows I played with the band. It's a long story... The bassist moved 5 hours away for school, and then I moved out of state for work. We played live when I've gone back to visit and it was great and like riding a bike. Now I'm moving back in a month. The drummer and I will be working on new tunes, of which there will be plenty, maybe some recording and of course some live shows with our bass player. I can't wait.
well THAT'S pretty cool.
shit looking for a damn drummer to join the band. we got plenty of riffs and jams to work off of.
What band?
Trying to get something started, even compromising, but I just won't play white-man corporate blues, guttural death metal, or tight pants rock.
180 Proof is in the middle of recording our second EP. A song from our first EP is on the front cover CD of the current issue of Classic Rock magazine, which goes out to 70000 peope, which has been pretty good promo and we're pretty stoked about it. So we're trying to get this next release finished while we still have a bit of momentum. In the meantime we're also looking for another band to release a split 7 inch with, on coloured vinyl.
It's very weird to be in a band that's getting a little bit of attention and even selling the odd CD over in the UK and Germany, but at home seems to be stuck on the bottom of the pecking order of Melbourne bands. Did a show on sunday, was a total clusterfuck, the singer from the headline band got into a fight the night before and couldn't do the gig - he also had his phone stolen, so we didn't get word about them cancelling until half an hour before doors opened. We ended up playing to 3 people - well, 9 if you include the bartender and the other band - and made 5 bucks. We'll be doing gigs this weekend and the weekend after, and then take a break for a month while the bass player has to go out of town for work. We want to do an east coast tour sometime late spring/early summer. Our plans to go to europe didn't work out.
Trying to get good enough to play out and record a demo. We also need a name.

getting back together in september after a couple of months laying low (exams, work and what-not), all of us have worked/are working during the summer so all of us will have some nice new gear we can play with. after that we'll try and work out the songs we have lying around and hopefully we can record them and put them out as a first demo/EP/whatever. Also we're thinking of covering Hawkwind - Master of the Universe but slower, kinda like the US Christmas version but more stoner or whatever.
Life is slow in the Worship of Silence. We don't play shows that often because many of the people that have given us shows out of the blue aren't playing either and we've never been proactive enough to actually pursue our own shows. We've almost got enough material for a new album though which is good...one more song should do it and I think one of the songs we've got is the best one I've ever written, it at least has one of the coolest riffs I've ever written.
I'm also trying to start another project where I sing as well as play guitar but I'm not sure if my bass player and drummer are all that into it...it doesn't much matter though because I don't have any full songs just a random assortment of riffs. I just don't find myself with the time or interest in songwriting for 12 hours a day for weeks at a time like I used to. I definitely wish I was playing and writing more but so much just gets in the way.
King Coal's hopefully playing in September, shit's kinda been slow since February on account of the earthquakes fucking up most of the venues.
We played a show last month run by some weirdo electronic goths, but the second band took an hour to set up then played for and hour. We were on forth but by that time (about 3am) the free booze had gotten the better of me and after two and a half songs I suddenely woke up on my laundry floor. Oops. But apparently all but one guy had left by the time we went on.
Planning on recording another demo soon and writing some more. Good times.
My newish trio (Swayze) is doing our 4th show this Saturday and we have a couple other things set up over the next two months. Did a recording session with Tad at his new home studio- still trying to get around to finishing that. Old band (Mico De Noche) hasn't played for a year, but we've got a couple things coming up- drummer couldn't do it so we got an old pal to step in and working with him has been great, so we'll see where that all ends up, probably not firing it back up full-time like it was, but it's cool to have the option to do something when we want to.
Basically- too busy with the lamer aspects of life to play as much as I want, but trying to keep the itch scratched as much as time and energy allow.

not sure. I think it only ends up being around a couple bucks a piece with packaging.
Husky is practicing, playing a show here and there, and still readying the album that might be released sometime before the next ice age. I'm tempted to just title it "Boston's next album". My work schedule so far this year has really put the hammer to the band. We seem to be settling into a steady band practice schedule though, and I'm pretty excited about these new songs. We didn't play much for a few months, and it sucked. It feels good to play again. I hope we can do more improv sets too. That's all I guess.
We haven't played much live while we've been making our second album, but we're just about finished with it now. It sounds pretty great if I say so myself, Benny Grotto has done a fine job in mixing the album. We're also shooting a video in sext month. Should be fun, I've been promised titties and lazers. Now we just need to find someone to release it. :P
The Belushis are pretty busy I guess. Playing local shows 1 or 2 a month, getting ready for a 10 date tour in BC/Alberta next month. Filling out our repertoire with some new stuff and some choice covers. We'll be playing multiple set shows, or extended single set shows, throughout this tour, so we're aiming for two hours worth of material all together. Might not sound like much to all you super long stoner jam dudes, but we're more of a 3 minute rock and roll band... so that's a lot of tunes. And only about 5 or 6 covers in there.
Other than that, we've got 8 songs in the can for the next record, and will probably track about 4 more right when we get back from the tour, with the intention of putting our first vinyl LP out around Christmas. We're going to do some homemade CD-R type discs with printed cardboard sleaves and 6 of those songs on it for the tour, and sell them for a twoonie (that's $2, in coin form). Still have leftovers of the last two records (on CD) for cheap, and have a fresh batch of t-shirts with a design by Kojak from this site to round out the merch.
Also, we're on a steady and predictable schedule for total liver demolition.
My new band Wild Rocket is playing it's first gig next week (that we'll be barely ready for if even that), serious line up of Manatees, Conan, Slomatics and De Novissimis. Then probably no gigs again til October as the other two have post grad thesis' to hand in. Hopefully we'll get a demo of some sort recorded between times.

but the scramble is on to fill hours for a big party on labor day. they need music all day, not just the headliners.
trying to hook up some peeps and learn a pile of ac/dc, sabbath and other stock party rock that is easy to play
at least i got my son to help out he is good drummer and guitar player now. my buddy the trombone/vocal guy is just not rock n roll enough for this so im not even going to mention it to him. but we need the third person, anything guitar bass or drums since we can cover the other two spots. im not comfy enough to pull off 2 man shit out of cover tunes.
if i ONLY had my damn midi footpedal controller, like an organ footpedalboard, then i can have my bass also, THEN i could do 2 man easily. i have to get that shit already. it's holding me back.
Still retired at the moment, though other guitarist from old band has found a drummer to jam with sometime. We'll see what happens, probably nothing I suspect.
Touring with Eric Tessmer Band all summer, up in New England/MidWest thru beginning of September. Trying to get some big things in the works, so far so good. Just gotta keep the van running, heh.
Have a new label interested in re-releasing my 2010 RPM challenge album Ocean of Stars. But finding a cost-effective means of making a short run of 300 or so has not been easy. Will look into the cassette duplication mentioned earlier in this thread as well for sure!
Need to either get Ocean of Stars going as a band/side-project or find something that needs a guitar player. Bass is awesome and all, but my Marshall and Iceman are thinking I've lost that lovin feelin...

Check out short run CDR's from discmakers.com, about 2 dollars&change apiece with jewel case, full color insert (single page, more pages = more money) full color printing on disc, etc. CDR= burned, CD = stamped from glass master. For short runs it's probably not cost effective to make a glass master (unless somebody else is paying, heh). Other options include digipack case, shrink wrap, barcode, etc. It's all ala carte and the more stuff you need, the more you pay. I think 300 is the first price break though, so if you can use that many, that's cool. I'm having them make 100 CDRs for my band right now, should be here by Friday. Full color cardboard sleeve (I prefer cardboard to jewel cases for a CDR) with shipping and tax it's about 270 bucks.

My work schedule so far this year has really put the hammer to the band. We seem to be settling into a steady band practice schedule though, and I'm pretty excited about these new songs. We didn't play much for a few months, and it sucked. It feels good to play again. I hope we can do more improv sets too. That's all I guess.
More Husky please. Super-excited for the new album...

What you see is what we are up to.
Thanks Lumpy! Didnt realize the diff between a CD and a CDR on that site... glad that was explained to me. Would like to keep the original digipak and hopefully this will make it cheaper...!
Dunno if this is the correct thread but seemed appropriate enough, anyway this is my new psych/space band Wild Rocket in which I play bass and shout/sing:

seems like a good place to post this to me!
our band scrapped all of our songs back in october and are working on a new set list. hope to play out towards the end of february.
I do that too often, get sick of playing the same shit with 3 or 4 different guitarists, retool and start again. There's a couple of iterations never even made it out live :-\
My band's looking to start gigging in March. Not sure we're gonna make that deadline, but it'll be close to it. If nothing else we'll fill the dead space between songs with hideous noise.

I'm up for most, I think it could be interesting with live electronics, or organ, or whatever, doesn't need to be a guitarist, unfortunately we can't find

Reggae band I used to drive 45 miles for, our singer/guitarist for that band used to come through from Urbana, like 100 miles one way. Nobody is interested in this kind of music, you look at the local board, it's punk or metal for the kids, and crap, and I mean bad, awful, shitty, stinky, fucking crap covers for the grown-ups. Yes please I want to play Nickelback in my declining fucking years, and worship wankers like Van Halen. </bitter> ;)

Yeah! Definitely! Morty - that band's a two piece, drums/vox & bass/vox . High energy, noisy, heavy.
Played a bunch of great shows last year: Chopper fest (with Zachoff), Carnage on Larimer, Doomfest, opened for a bunch of fun bands.
Playing with YOB this week, recording a full length in February and playing with Backwoods Payback in March. Bunch of killer tentative shows in the works too. This year should be fun.
Both are writing at the moment. Mental Waste moves a lot faster (in tempo and in progress) than Cold Mourning, we've already got 5 or 6 songs waiting for lyrics, so we'll probably have another release out by summer. We're just starting to jam out songs for Cold Mourning, so I'm sure we probably won't have enough ready to start recording an album until the fall at least.
Nameless, songless and a drummer in too many projects. Aside from that we've got a bunch of riffs I really like and two great musicians to play with.
SANDIA MAN has been working in our new bassist Ramon. He's done 2 shows with us so far, and is doing a great job.

Congrats! Saw Graveyard when they came through here a couple of months ago. Really great show, they played well over an hour including songs from both albums.
Still in rehearsal mode with my band. For the moment no rehearsals though due to exams. We'll get started again in february. And then hopefully a first show/demorelease in May or June.
er, hallo, long time missing in action person... I started a band, THORUN, with some people i didnt know about a year and a half ago. We did a 1st EP which is free to download, but the tempos and mix on it are out at some points and the tuens aren't completely cohesive or have some filler riffs. We were just getting to know eachother.
Our 2nd EP is far better and I'm happy to put my name to it. We've had really good online reviews and quite a few download and CD sales (yeah like, less than a hundred but that's fine by me!). I think it's a pretty fun easy listen, good to do the dishes to.
We've done about 12 shows now, the last 5 have been pretty much playing the new EP and one old tune. The last 3 shows have been tight as fuck, we have it down now. We have a few shows lined up, we get local offers pretty regularly and usually get a good crowd and a cheer.
im absolutely chomping at the bit to take the music to the next level now, bigger grooves, heavier riffs, more light and dark, move away from any post-rockisms.
our 2nd EP is listenable here...

Listened to the Thorun stuff a few times now. Great stuff, I hear a bit of Slomatics in there too which is always good in my book. Love that cover artwork too.
Our new album should be out sometime spring/early summer.

cheers man! ah there's plenty of typical stoner-y type riffs. one of em is a straight Kyuss 'Rodeo' riff! the guys in the band hadnt heard it!?! I was like, WTF?? so i changed a few notes, but it's still pretty much the same. the riff before it a friend compared to an early Sabbath riff. Sometimes riffs are just too obvious, but hopefully we slap em around and arrange such that we have a little personality of our own. that's the idea anyway!
but basically, if it sounds like someone else that's good, it's in!! ;D

Lived up in the scheme catty corner to the Taco Bell just of I-74. Played lounge music maybe, him on piano and some chick. Never played a song in the same key twice, always learned a different version of the song from everybody else in the band ::)

hmm. what you are describing to me sounds like i guy i knew named tom. if it is him, he is indeed crazy.
Nope it was definitely James, straw coloured hair, kind of scarecrowy, likes a toke.
Well, we have just recently started to write some new material which feels great.
And rehearsing for some upcoming shows. Rehearsing is good for us... ;D
Taking a nearly 3 month break but switching things around and hopefully expanding the lineup.
Also, my bass player's in the backup band for this:

Pretty sure the Evil Dead one had 'em too. Definitely cool regardless.
My band isn't doing shit right now. maybe never again. Still not sure. I am gonna go jam with one of my old drummers next week just for shits and drizzles. And I might be playing drums for a buddy's project. just studio stuff though.
i guess cannibal - the musical didn't have a stage show.
we're on our yearly winter hiatus while the drummer takes off for the month of january. when he's back, we're moving into a new space in an old rural elementary school, recording some old tunes, workin' out some new ones...probably shows in the spring again. been writing a selection of riffs.
We played with Graveyard last night. Getting ready to move the band out of the Practice space and back into Lordfinesse's house. Doing so will be a financial benefit as well as a convenience one. It'll probably get our album finished sooner as well.
Further update from my last entry in the summer. New record has been finished, titled, and is currently being pressed into neat little discs of transparent red vinyl in the Czech Republic. We're gearing up our publicity blitz (ie; bribing some guys we know that write for the local papers to review it) for a March 24th record release show. Planning some small long weekend tours this year, and trying to break the border and hit the US west coast for the first time. We got a facebook page and we're begging people to "like" it, because that's what bands are supposed to do nowadays I think facebook.com/thebelushis (http://facebook.com/thebelushis)
And I figured out how to work iMovie and made this:
Ours is dead. New one forming.
I have a new project finally. Its been 2 years since i have jammed with anyone (daughter born, major death in the family, burned out of rock n roll, etc). So far so good. My last band was a 2 piece instrumental and basically the new band is taking those tunes and adding bass and vocals right now. It kind of cool because we will be gig ready soon. The new guys (including a new drummer) have really given the material a much needed jump start. Feel good playing with folks that aren't selfish musically, actually want to create and love Rock n Roll for what it is. here is a link to the original stuff (Sons of Rust)...I guess imagine it with vocals and a bassline!
www.reverbnation.com/sonsofrust
My band is currently writing. When we first started jamming a couple of months ago we had the typical stoner doom sound but somewhere along the way our style changed. Now we have been jamming stuff that is similar to old Neurosis...maybe even some side two My War Black Flag style...anywho...so we scrapped the old stuff and are just going wth what developed. Oh and we named ourselves. Blindead.

This sounds right up my street. Blindead is a cool name too, very oldschool/good hardcore I think which suits the style nicely.

After a couple false starts on a new band I'm gonna try doing some solo stuff and maybe I'll bump into the right people. I've demo'd some songs and am planning on recording them soon. After I get up and going, maybe something will fall in place.
We finished another demo track last night.

As hinted at in last post, fuck all :(
Played with Yob last weekend. Playing as the house band at some bar tomorrow night (then heading to the Ghost/Blood Ceremony show directly after!!) I think the CD for our Small Stone debut just became available today in their online store. Continuing to write new songs for the next record. In March, doing a 2 week tour up the North West, down Cali, through the South West, into Austin with a bunch of day shows and then our official SSR showcase for the SXSW festival. Come home, rest up, then get the vinyl version of the album ready for release. More writing, then start recording demos for the new album. By the end of the summer, another tour - this time heading East to record at Mad Oak.
It's the verge of our new EP launch, and I think we're splitting up
it's all been doing my head in lately. Getting offers to do tours overseas and having to say no because the other guys won't say yes is just killing me. I mean, going out on the road and playing a bunch of shows is all I wanna do with my life. Working so hard to get to that point and then not doing it is spirit crushing.
I might try to reform the band with a new drummer, or it might be time for a new project. I'm not sure yet. I'm gonna hope to do some farewell shows with 180 Proof but I don't know if it'll happen.
Mental Waste just did an interview for a Brazilian webzine, so that's a thing.

Yeah man, that all went very smoothly. Kind of weird, actually. (*knocks wood)
In an attempt to keep my sanity in college, the solo project has had some life put into it. I bought a bass even, so I could fill everything out myself.
Printmaking this semester shall yield album and tshirt art, and my job at the radio station = full mixing console at my disposal. I'm getting my money out of this semester, for sure.

Hello strangers. I've popped in recently to lurk and found that many old characters are still kicking about here? I think I even laughed, well, smirked I suppose.
Well, Thorun finally recorded its third CD, 36 mins of the same old shit. not as fully flowing as the last one, but it has its moments.
We've replaced a guitarist that left and the newest two tunes we've written with him are more straight riff jobs with less fucking about.
We get a cheer when we play.

also started another band with friends that play in other bands, so we're like a Supergroup basically. It's called Lacertilia, but dont tell the mexican band of the same name, hopefully they'll have split up by the time we get in the charts, which should be around 2106.
my old grindcore/noisecore band 'Hades Mining Co.' got rebooted last summer after a long period of inactivity due to not having a consistant drummer. we now have a drummer and are playing shows and cranking out releases. so far a split cassette and 2 split 7"ers have come out and we are sold out of our first 7" that came out in 2002 [about the fuck time]. we have a few more splits in the works as well as a track on an upcoming comp 7".
split 7" with CSMD [crowd surfers must die] from the netherlands on 'no fucking labels' and a split 7" with adolf shitter from france on 'underground pollution records' due out late 2014/early2015.
do yourself a favor and check out CSMD. one of my personal all time fav bands in the world. im guessing adolf shitter might be too much for most of you to handle around here. ::)

not for the weak!! noisecore and grind freaks only!!
Show on May 28, and maybe something in early July.
Talked to my no-good guitar player, and he's gonna play some shows again. He's sobered up!
I built a very cool little recording studio. Finishing up a "Frankenstrat" project guitar this week. I start recording seriously after I get off the next tour (as a sound engineer, not a guitar player). The project is a equal parts trippy/heavy. I could use a bassist if you live in CT. I also need a band name. Any ideas?
I'll start posting some clips in July.
My band has been defunct for 2 years now I think. I've had a couple offers which I've declined. Doing weirdo synth shit currently. Have barely touched a guitar in a month. Prolly wont do weirdo synth shit live as I'd feel silly cuz I spent the last 25 years with a guitar or drum sticks in hand and can't shake that that is actually playing music and not just twirling knobz.
/tryingtocometotermswithmynewdirectioninmusic
playing 1 to 3 local shows a month...bars and house shows. not many heavy bands happening around here lately and people contact us to play so that's always nice. don't know if I'll ever do anything with the stuff we have recorded other than occasionally dicking around with a mix or whatever. haven't practiced in weeks, but we need to get some of our new stuff down so we can play it live. kinda wish we could do a show with no time constraints so we could experiment more. even 45 minutes is not enough to really get into some serious dronin' and zonin'
My band is up to replacing their drummer...with me.

Getting our new rehearsal room ready.
Killer looking studio, what's the finish on the walls? Just painted gyp board?
Demo is done, going on bandcamp this week, blank CDRs and tapes have been ordered, inserts and jcard layouts are basically done, trying to plan a gig for June or July, practicing another new song to debut live.
cant disagree with that rehearsal room, killer!!!
You knwo what would make that jamroom look way killer? A pic of you guys wearing sleeveless vests.
Just played the 2nd show with new-ish band (new drummer, new band name). Pretty happy with how it's going. Trying to get some Seattle/Portland shows set up in the next few months.

p.s. Aren't all vests, by definition, sleeveless?
^haha. good point. :D

And I'm pretty sure all chaps, by definition, are assless.

That's all I've got.

Just finished a demo, recorded live in a room. 6 songs, an hour of sludge/doom/stoner/etc. Gearing up for a cd release party. Googled "cd sleeve origami" and found some cool folds. Ours opens up from the center like a flower. We changed our band name to Radiant Beings of Light and in between songs we've been doing crowd interaction improv based on stuff like "release your anal chakra down into the red hot magma of the earth" and "we are here to worship YOU." I think I talked somewhere else in the jam room about how we're going to wear white and sparkles. These days naming your band Rotting Flesh doesn't really scare anybody, but we intend to make some people really nervous by offering them sensual reiki attunements. :D

I said once before that I think the whole Radiant Beings of Light concept is brilliant.

Agent this stuff is fucking brilliant! That tone is sick as hell! And I love the three vocal styles, that's very cheeky....
Loads of stuff going on here, we played a Candlelight gig with our label buddies The Wounded Kings and Sigiriya last weekend which was beyond great! Gig with some awesome local bands next weekend, recording for a split with my heroes Ommadon a couple of weeks after that, touring here with those guys and Horse Latitudes in July, then touring Finland with those guys in October, then recording the second album in November! It's a lot! sometimes I feel like I'm tripping up over myself trying to keep up all the while confused as to why so many people seem to like my hellishly sloppy playing!
Thank you! The guitarist and I share vocal duties. He and I have been playing together since around 1990.
Edit: grammar

Loads of stuff going on here, we played a Candlelight gig with our label buddies The Wounded Kings and Sigiriya last weekend which was beyond great! Gig with some awesome local bands next weekend, recording for a split with my heroes Ommadon a couple of weeks after that, touring here with those guys and Horse Latitudes in July, then touring Finland with those guys in October, then recording the second album in November! It's a lot! sometimes I feel like I'm tripping up over myself trying to keep up all the while confused as to why so many people seem to like my hellishly sloppy playing!
Whoa! Good going!
Recording 3-4 new songs for an ep this summer. Getting my Fender P setup with round wounds to track the bass as we currently don't have a bass player. Things are kind of up in the air aside from recording.

We, Wild Rocket, finally have a track from our forthcoming album up. Album is called Geomagnetic Hallucinations and consists of six tracks of gnarly fuzzed out psychedelic space rock.

This
looks really good. Currently mid stream on this new Tombs album, but you're up next.
Recently landed on a name and finished a basement recording of one song (of 3). Came out decent, considering I've only got two mics.
Now we gots to find a bass player.

wow, amazing! great music. that did come out decent with two mics, what mic placement did you use to record the tracks?
My sax player came by yesterday to do some quick touch-ups to the Ocean of Stars demo EP.
Then was able to (finally) successfully mix them both, the last two of four songs, no easy feat without any kind of automation. Was concerned I wouldn't be able to pull them off, or do a half-asses mix at best.
But nailed it.
Will have it mastered by Cris Burns (grammy winner, both of The Mother Truckers albums I was on were with him) on Tuesday.
Can't WAIT to hear the finished product, and looking forward to plowing ahead with booking and seeking out label etc support now that I can hand a copy of the demo over, rather than trying to describe it to people.... "Instrumental space rock?... Uh.... Black Sabbath meets Miles Davis? ... Uh... Sax player who uses effects pedals in lieu of 2nd guitar..." etc
Also really interesting to hear the similarities and differences with the Ocean of Stars versions of tunes compared to the ones on my solo recordings

Welp, it's multitracked, but I was limited to two mics for things like drums. For those, I centered a Octava MK319 condenser between the snare and toms and put a SM-57 on the kick. Not exactly pro, but not terrible either.
Thanks for the kind words.

Good tune. I'd offer constructively to ease up on the compression of the kick. Perhaps it's the streaming that does it, but on my system the recording tends to pulse with the kick drum. I say that realizing this is a demo, and you were working with some big limitations. But yeah, good stuff dude.
Preliminary mastering done.
Just need to a listen a few times and see if band mates ok with sound/EQ-ing/song order, then pushing forward.
Getting CDr's in the hands of people who need it first (friends in radio, putting them online). Have a friend who can pull some strings for a bro deal on printing as well, so will be working on album art in next few days.
Stoked! Sounds great so far!
Not too shabby for a guerrilla-recorded demo on my digi 8 track!

we (Low Gravity) are getting our final mix tonight of our tracks for our split with long time Denver favs Valiomierda. Then its off to pressing for another 10" vinyl. Should be out in Sept.
haha frobbert that looks awesome!!
cool band name Jake, just started blasting it now, sounds really good! Don't think I can afford $666 tho haha! ;)
My old band that pretty much broke up last year may be reforming in our original, 2-piece (guitar/drums) configuration. We're gonna try it anyway and see if we want to do it. Two less people onstage means room for more amps!
Just played at Days of the Doomed IV. Jex Thoth will haunt my dreams. Maybe it's just that I can still smell the incense.
the Ocean of Stars EP is now live on our Reverb page!

^that is really cool. my hope is that the 4 of you hang together for a while so everyone loosens up and tightens up and starts all adding their creativity. it could be awesome in time. everything is careful right now. which is cool to start.
Thanks man.
In assembling them was wondering how much I should stick to the script, as the music was already written.
Decided was best to let the songs do what they want to do, keep the basic framework but let the players add their personalities and shine \m/

Just played a pretty damn good show to a crowd of nearly zero people. This was made more apparent by being in a big venue. Why do we do this? The venue had great sound, so that was pretty cool.
for any of my doomz showz in the future I anticipate very small audiences. I have witnessed awesome heavy rock bands around Austin TX play with very small crowds, and then dont get subsequent gigs for monthz... on the up side being a bassist in a cover band may be in my future tho :)

the why is because the few people that were there probably really go into it..
With the demo finally out things are really picking up, namely gig interest from bands in other cities and some label interest. Not the best time to not have a bass player but we are working on that. Things are looking very good. I'm planning on starting guitar tracking for an ep this weekend.
I will play bass synth via satellite from my basement.

My rock band Mass Driver (http://"https://www.facebook.com/massdriverband") has a pretty kickass show coming up on the 12th at the Birdhouse in Knoxvegas. We're playing with a hardcore band out of OK and an Indie sort of band from Nashville.
It's a really kickass venue. It's labeled as a "community center" but it's basically a house with a PA. We've played there before and it's always a blast. So for the three of you that are within a reasonable distance from here, it would be rad to see you there.
We're also shooting some footage for a music video so you have a very good chance of becoming famous.

My other band The Appalachian surf team (http://"https://www.facebook.com/AppalachianSurfTeam") is still going strong. We have a few off the wall shows coming up (car shows and such) so if anyone if interested in coming out to that stuff let me know and I'll give you the details.
Here are a few videos from one of our last shows in downtown Knoxville. Enjoy!!
This kid that's working as a promoter for the band we're headed out with next week has moved on to using words like "WE are going on tour" and "OUR amp..."
It's giving me a healthy dose of the annoy. Go get us more than $100 for two bands, jack off.
doing a recording session with the new drummer in a couple weeks, hopefully have something to post in the "latest recordings" thread soon
just had our first jam since 2005 in unholy semen. different drummer now. it was weird going back and trying to play some of the old material again. a few tracks came back quick..new drummer seems to be catching right on. it felt really good. the guitar player and I picked up right where we left off. everything is the same right down to the gear. it was nothing to get our sound back..
we even got a few shells of some new tunes started. I need to build up my singing and playing stamina, haven't done that shit since 05..

In the meantime we have been gigging again. Played a cool local show Saturday, opened for Nik Turner and the Hawkwind action a few weeks ago and will be playing with eyehategod in a month or so.
You guys play with Which Mountain?
No, but we did play with Witch Mountain. ;)
It was cool to see and hang with Rob and Nate again.
Charles was super stoked and Uta was really nice.
Those cats are wicked players and a lot of fun to know.
Nyuck nyuck. Played with them and her other band a couple times. Isn't she cute as a damn button?
She is indeed.
Like I mentioned in GenDisc, she made the whole room want to be her friend and write her poetry.
Class act, for sure.
Testosterone is a hell of a drug.
I was gutted to miss Witch Mountain with Uta, would have loved to have seen her live, she's left now has she?
Awesome about the Eyehategod show black!! :)
Yeah WM just played their last show with her. I saw em once in 2012, a lot better live than on record. Nothing necessarily wrong with on record, but...
I feel the same is true with Royal Thunder. One of my favorite live bands but their records are underwhelming for a reason I can't identify.

Palace In Thunderland is continuing work on our latest, "In The Afterglow Of Unity." We set dates for the mixdown in early December, working with Justin Pizzoferrato (Witch, Dinosaur Jr, Black Pyramid, etc) I've enjoyed a really great working relationship with Justin over many years, and his new studio, Sonelab, is fucking incredible. We recorded the drums there, and they sound massive.

This is a sneak peak at a "full" track, roughly mixed and not mastered. There are four short instrumentals that tie different parts of the album together. Two are "traditional" and two are more experimental. This is one of the more traditional instrumental tracks.
Today, I'm going to be splicing together different parts of different songs in order to offer a more comprehensive preview of the album. I'm going to set it to video footage of the classic sci-fi flick "Logan's Run" and hopefully preview it on Tuesday of this week.
Really stoked on this album, everyone really stepped up their game and I've worked harder on this album than on any other in my "career."
cool Palace In Thunderland stuff!
Here's something I did recently:
http://www.austin.com/ocean-of-stars-rocker-danny-g-explains-why-hes-a-full-time-austin-musician/
My band is up to 11 weeks since I recorded the drum parts for our demo. Guitar player, who is an engineer and has his own studio still has not recorded his guitar tracks for the demo. I haven't played drums in two months. At this point I'm tempted to have a nice big bonfire/weenie roast starring my drums as das firewood.
All I associate my drums with these days is bad vibes, ugly situations, and erosion of my self worth. I'm so tired of trying to make it work with people, but honestly really scared of giving it up entirely. I think I may be having a real crisis. Somebody hug me.
(Hugs)
Keep playing.
Ocean of Stars is rehearsing this week, working in two new songs. Still no gigs booked and not sure what to do with the project. Booking blind wouldn't help us much so trying to talk to friends about opening for their bands. Not sure who we'd fit in with or what venues to ask. Mainly trying to get on local access cable shows, as that would do us much better than playing empty venues. Sent a booking inquiry to Austin Psych Fest. I think we'd do well there.
Discö hugs, Discö Rice.
Don't give up.
Everyone goes through slumps and droughts.
I can only imagine that drummers are in high demand in the Big City there.
Fuck the bad vibes and stuff and remember all the kickass times, gigs and music that those drums have facilitated.
If you need a bad ju-ju bonfire to get rid of those negative feelings, I would suggest starting with torching that guitarists stuff.
Start with his hair and work your way down.
I gave up for a while and got scared and entertained the possibility that I could be that 40 year old guy who has some kids and quits playing music. And then it shifted and I found some amazing dudes to play with. It's a hell of an abyss to stare into though.
I'm not even sure I wanna be in a band anymore. Sometimes I think I do but then I get the commitment jitters.
I (temporarily) quit banding in February and it's remarkable how quickly any worth I had as a person in this scene utterly evaporated. I'm amused by it; twenty years ago I would have been pretty butthurt, haha...

I'm in 3. HU/LK is my heavy punk outfit. we are playing some shows & writing a new song every once in a while
With musket king my stoner rock band we have one more show in December but until then we are working on a few new jammers . Our lead guitar player just had a baby a few days ago plus with holiday season coming up we aren't planning to do much until next year
With watch husky burn , it's all about timing & schedules . They don't seem to be lining up at the moment . Which is good because we don't have anything booked. I know we'd all like to get on some sort of regular schedule
One of the two tunes that will be worked into the Ocean of Stars set. Started off with the more straight-forward material, now starting to add the more involved, weirder shit.

What are you dressing up as?
I'm glad (in a way) that I'm not alone here bummed out about playing music. It does sadden me to see that some o' y'all are having a rough time of it, too, but I really do appreciate the commiseration. I'm just so tired of trying to work it out with people. I'm not young enough that I'm gonna meet some soul brotha friend and form the coolest band ever. Making friends has seemed to only get harder for me as I've gotten older, let alone making friends I want to work on a group creative project with for an extended period of time. It's all "pro gear, pro attitude" from here on out. Doesn't anyone wanna bring the heavy, push boundaries/buttons and have a good time anymore? Just seems like most of what I run into are dour people doing chores together, and I get enough of that at the 9-5.
Bands are like relationships. You'll go through many in your life \m/,
Playing full time, I don't think I've been in a band that I haven't been frustrated by to varying degrees. Just keep playing

I'm much older than you and had but all given up on an electrical music collaboration. Reverted to playing old cowboy songs on acoustic with some crusty hillbillies. My stacks had become catch-all's for clothes and cat perches. But I'm glad I hung on to all that crap because almost 12 years ago that all changed and I have been with a group of like-minded cats since then. We love the volume and the riff and in all this time have never had a band fight, disagreement or a "those two vs. those three" type of situations. It's the only time in my band playing life this has happened. Like you, I had all but thrown in the towel.
At this point a couple of the guys are now in their 40's or approaching them and I'm well over 107 years old. This band that has outlasted any marriage or long-term relationship I've been in and it shows no sign of slowing down or
not kicking ass.
My point is, keep the faith and even if you give up, please just give up a little bit for only a little while.
Good stuff happens when you least expect it.

Knocked the rust off the previous new song. Sounded great.
Worked on the two new ones. First one is almost together. Second will be a process.

Mixing the Palace In Thunderland album on December 10th/11th. We're working to clean up and edit the tracks that we have before then, and are also writing new material.
Wrote a cool new song on Wednesday, it's even more emo than the stuff on "In The Afterglow Of Unity" ;)
When it comes to doom, stoner, sludge, and related heavy sounds the 'emo' description or put down is usually a good thing and has nothing to do with emo hardcore or emo metalcore/whatever vibes.
I'll be back in something early next year, once I turn the heat up; I'm probably a tad butthurt motherfuckers ain't called to see how I'm doin' or something, haha

but you get to wear a cool hat like clint eastwood and wear one of those longrider coats that you can hide a rifle under when you play in an outlaw black country band.

Well, I'd say that it is directly related to emo hardcore. I love Sunny Day Real Estate and Rites of Spring, and have been slowly incorporating that influence more and more. This new song we wrote sounds like a cross between SDRE and Torche, and the lyrics are pretty emotional/lovey dovey :-*

I hear you. A lot of people used the "emo" term to describe Warning as well, and they fucking RULED...
Warning was intense!
Warning is indeed awesome!! I've never heard anyone use the term emo when talking about any doom over here tho...
We just finished a four date tour in Finland with Horse Latitudes, it's been really amazing, the metal scene here is awesome, so many great bands, good gig turn outs, we visited a couple of record shops owned by guys from Beherit and Deathspell Omega, the stuff in them was unbelievable, so much good Finnish metal, been having saunas for the last couple of nights, there was one backstage last night so we had a sauna before playing at 1am! We've been lucky to have had such a good response, I can never quite believe it because I know we still have a long way to go, the HL guys are amazing too, so passionate about metal and they are truly amazing live, it's been amazing, I'm very tired now...
Awesome!
Sounds like a great time Jem!
sounds amazing jem..
That is awesome, Jemma!!!
Going to be working on some new Palace material today. Since we're basically putting the finishing touches on the album we just recorded, we need to write some new tunes. I'm very focused about primarily doing studio work.
We've got one new song done from last week, for the next album, really trying to focus on material that's not all that "stoner rock", like not as many blues riffs and Sabbath nods. Want more of the Torche/Floor, Sunny Day Real Estate/Rites of Spring, Quicksand/Helmet vibes, along with the shoegaziness of Ride and the spaced out effects of Monster Magnet.
Sounds do-able.
Meeting with Ocean of Stars sax player tomorrow. Full band rehearsal next week. Still trying to book some darn gigs...
Jem, come to fucking Poland! :D
Another thumbs up for Warning. Never really dug the term emo... so much good music is emotional... even a lot of instrumental stuff... Jakob for instance
After only two practices Emerald Douglas is trying to set up a show. A little crazy perhaps but the material is all easy to play and that's part of the fun.
Go for it.
Southern Gun Culture played its first show after maybe 5 weeks from its first rehearsal
my 'other band' looking sexy...

cant, it's thinning and like attractive women, moving away from my face.
Ocean of Stars made good progress on the two new tunes we've been working on.
One is just about gig-ready, the other will take more time and effort. It's a weird intricate song, but if we can pull it off that one will (hopefully) turn some heads.

yeah totally. it rules. it might not look very manly but it'll use any speakers it plugs into. once yer plug in and turn up all smirks disappear ;) and I can carry all my gear and walk, get the bus, whatever. they go for pretty cheap UK £300 second hand.

Are you singing now too?
cool brutha. I need it! :)
this is the best Orange Terror Bass demo that I have seen for my heavy sludge musicz:
no-one sings in the Thorun band. i might say hello now and then. y'know 'me and the drummer are single, if there are any attractive single not mental women in the hizzouse tonight. word' and stuff.
I see Thorun played with Grand Magus for a show, that must have been fun too!
I dig the Thorun riffage, reminds me a bit of the band "Karma to Burn" that also does not have a singer and is riff heavy.
yeah totally! they are the Godz of that 'thing'. we've been going 4 years and it's been slow going. we had some potential after 2 years but it's fizzling out now. kinda the difference between BUYING gear and TALKING about it, and actually PLAYING it and using it to WRITE and grow. Life happens though, what can yer do?!
Dunno if this will work for you but it's a clip someone took of our Lacertilia set last Saturday...

How did I miss that, who were you touring with?
We're having a couple of 10 year anniversary shows. 10 years? Getting old. We're also doing a split with Enos from England. Should be out early 2015 and we're writing and recording stuff for a new album.
Just got a very nice email from a booking agent who found our page through another local band's page. He gave some respect for what we're doing musically, and asked us to play a local show with a band he's booking from over in Charlotte. Seemed like a nice fellow; his site indicates he books lots of different kinds of bands and sets up tours. First time anybody's every contacted me like that. Felt good.
The biggest national metal radio show in Norway listed us as one of the best/most promising bands of 2014.

Possible album art for forthcoming Ocean of Stars EP.

Now to come up with $200-300 to print them... :/

That artwork is cool.
We're working on some artwork for a t-shirt design, and for the cover of EP we released a couple years back. We're going to do a run of like 100 physical copies. RalphSnart from the boards is doing the artwork, he did a lot for Black Pyramid, actually...
Aside from that, really looking forward to finally mixing the album "In The Afterglow Of Unity." I really like the sound of it so far, once Justin Pizzoferrato gets his hands on it, it's gonna rule. He's really excited about the reference mixes he's heard. I'm predicting that 2015 will be a good year for Palace In Thunderland, and that we might actually manage to accomplish something for once...
Thanks DT
Just sent off for 13x18 generic OoS posters, as we (fucking FINALLY) have a gig coming up.
Baby steps. EP printing will have to wait til my finances pick up a bit, or I win the lottery.
That artwork is really reminiscent of some of the Man's Ruin releases, Danny. I really dig it. It reminds me of like the first Tummler album's artwork, just to the point and such...

Yep, feeling grateful. The other local bands we were going to play with are working to set up another show for all of us, which is also pretty cool. I dig playing with as many different bands and styles as possible. Always a pleasure to work with bands who are pleasant and friendly to each other.

i gained weight since the last show so i think the beer belly added girth.
Ha! Not having casters on those Orange cabs will work you back into shape. I put casters on everything. I'd screw casters into other casters if it'd make them easier to schlep around.
As for my recent activities, I mounted a vaporizer to a cymbal stand. Because for anyone to even be in the same room when my band is making noise, they will need to be deeply under the influence of marijuana. I'm not sure how some of the venues might react to it, but it's Denver, so I anticipate indifference.

First half of set was really strong, second had some rough spots but also is newer material and some of the weirder shit
Covering some serious ground this weekend with Thunderosa.
Tonight at Deadhorse in San Angelo TX, then Friday and Saturday in Tucson/Phoenix. Will be doing double duty with Thunderosa and my buddy Mike's band Love Mound.
Any of y'all in AZ should really come out! And be good to meet/catch up
Updated intel:
Only playing bass for Lovemound for Tucson show, and both AZ shows I'm on guitar for Thunderosa instead of bass.
Party
Just finished mixing Palace In Thunderland's new record, "In The Afterglow Of Unity". It's massive. Massively massive. Tons of both traditional and quirky riffs, cool tones and weird fuzzes, spacey effects and tripped out echoes. Exactly what I'd envisioned it from the start. Very excited for you all to eventually hear it...
^ nice!
Played a 10 band 2 stage show last night. We went on first at 6:30. Our first show and people really seemed to dig it. Playing guitar and not singing is so much easier than doing double duty although I feel like our drummer and my Hyper Fuzz did most of the work. I wasn't even that nervous. Ian's Pizza developed a special pie for this show and it was fantastic and free while it lasted which was surprisingly long because they brought so much. My favorite sets were by Vega, Sow Belly Bitch Hog, and Attalla.
Will be setting up the next show ASAP.

Yeah! A few of them. I know that some of them aren't in production anymore, and are desirable. The one that Jus uses for Electric Wizard, for example. We used a lot of Hyper Fuzz on the new Palace album too, though the other guitarist has one, and I don't remember which version. I believe it is the newest one...
P.S. Yes, it is a FZ-5 that we used on the Palace album.
P.P.S. Jus uses the FZ-2 in Electric Wizard. Those are very desirable.
I'm still trying to narrow down a fuzz. I want the option of some wacky octave sounds and stuff so I'm veering towards a Bit Commander or just building another super fuzz clone since the one I built I sold to a friend and he likes it so much he won't sell it back to me.
On the band note, I've already called it off until after the holidays. :P Sometimes I just want to be myself making my own sounds. Most of the time actually.

The FZ-2 is on Fanatics and Dopethrone. I thought you were maybe suggesting that there are different versions of it, rather than the other numbered FZ Boss pedals. I am kind of curious about them. The 2 is far from being the sweetest or best sounding 'fuzz' pedal but it's great for low tunings and does sound great into tube amps, not that others don't. I probably should have kept my Meathead but the resale value was good and I needed the cash for other things.

Saturday night we had a night of doom, sludge and fuzz in Knoxville. Normally I like my metal with a little more spikes and leather than the fare here, but it was a great bill and it was a metal show on a Saturday night! I can't miss that! This one was all local, and there was a good mix of metal heads, punks, regular dudes...and women! Ha.
Mass Driver
Mass Driver is a 3 piece fuzz rock band from Knoxville, kind of in the vein of say, Fu Manchu. Holy crap, did they rock! The music was high energy, and the way these guys played it really made for a great live experience. Such a charismatic band! The guitarist and bass player alternate vocals for each song, and were always moving. The drummer was strong, as is really necessary for this kind of music. His drum set was fairly minimal, but he does has a cowbell that he makes great use of. There was jumping, breaking of strings, hats flying, and even an appearance in the pit from the guitarist. Everyone really loved these guys and I can't wait to see them again. They're easily one of the best local live bands around, and were a tough act to follow. SEE THIS BAND.

Fuck yeah man!
We've started tracking drums for our next release, we're also opening for a Black Debbath show in February.
^awesome.
I think Sunday we stumbled across a couple ideas that will actually be structured into songs. I think much of what we'll do will be improv though.
Paleo will be playing our second show on Monday, and getting ready to record another EP.

Check out Voidstrider, they're pretty cool...
First gig for the new band was last month, next one is this Saturday, shows are setup for February and March. Starting to track songs for 2 local compilation projects. This feels good. My other band did not play out nearly enough when we were a live band.
Ocean of Stars rehearsal last night for this weekend. Wasn't perfect but sounded strong. Ready to play Triple Crown in San Marcos TX (first road show!) on Friday.
Depending on which songs sound best at the show will help decide what to play for our 20 min TV appearance the following afternoon.
And added a show for Fri Jan 30 in town. Awesome, we'll have a show to promote for the TV appearance \m/,
Sweet.
Just landed Ocean of Stars an afternoon slot for afternoon/evening show during SXSW on Thurs March 19.
Always good bands on this bill, will be fun to finally play it with my own project in addition to Adrian and the Sickness!
Writing and recording for a new album, also this:
Just got back the mix revisions for our latest album.
They sound terrific.
We're still thinking of a name that everyone agrees on and fits the music we're making. Got a paying gig in march that is roughly 3 hours. Working on hour long sets to do this and more lengthy gigs in the future, based around improv, but including some basic structures so we can sort of repeat certain things that we've done. There will be some structures built on certain keys (A, E, G, D), some riff based, some scale/mode based, some drum beat and instrumentation based, some that will start with one guy playing solo for several minutes so the others can tune in to what that person (probably me most of the time) is doing and then join in. Finding simple ways like that to stretch out each jam and create epic meditational music.
Interested in what kind of gig it is that you'd play this stuff for 3 hours.
It's at a brewery in Arcata. They want music from 8 to 11 roughly. There's no way that we'd bring all of our gear out for a typical rock band gig of 30 to 40 minutes. So probably will never play with bands but will do long gigs where we are the only act. Still wondering how often and where we will try to book anything. Oh yeah, we've got a projector now. That thing is a great light show.
wow. just like that..concept, band..gig. that is very encouraging to me.
Playing another party next week. A local rocker dude's birthday. Then we've got a Friday the 13th show in March, and then our CD release show in April.
Working on new material, we've got three new songs written, and are working on a fourth. So we may have a full up album as early as next year, depending on how things go.
finally named our band, Deep Dark Light. We like it

yeah it is. Thought dangling fury was a great name turns out there's at least four bands with that name, which means there many more.

Nice!
Ocean of Stars is taking Feb off, people will be out if town and no gigs anyway.
We have Thurs March 5, and landed a SXSW party for Thursday March 19 at the Key Bar. Always an awesome bill, stoked to be on that. Adrian and the Sickness is also playing so ill be doing double duty.
In the meantime a friend of the bass player wants to record an OoS track at his studio as a bro deal to show what he can do in case we'd be interested in recording there officially.
So we may be working on that this month.
In the meantime I need to figure out how to come up with the funds to press the OoS EP and get a proper website by SXSW
thanks guys. A name is indeed so hard to choose

Hm... what do you mean by proper website? Like, mybandname.com with press kit info?
My band hosts our presskit (http://sacredmonsterdoom.com/presskit)on Heroku for free - only thing we pay for is the domain name, which is about $10 a year. There's a few downsides to this approach - first, you'll need to figure out how to create a site in Ruby on Rails (not that hard, but may require nerdery), and second, it's a bit slow. That being said, for the number of people who need to look at our presskit overall, it works really well. The root domain redirects to el Facebook.

ultimate band name...
WHISKEY DICKENS AND THE SLOPPY SEXTET.
Well, I left Lacertilia because they wouldn't let me cover my gas costs to a gig despite the fact that I've been driving 'em around since we started the band and we're now making some bank. the pointy end of the wedge but I'd had enough of dancing to others peoples tunes, figuratively and literally (though I had a big hand in writing innit).
being in bands is tough but when you're doing a lot of the lifting and getting fuck all to cover your costs, while endlessly bowing to differing opinions on everything, it's like... no.
so, back to my wife, and true doom riffing love, Thorun, we're hopefully recording again this summer.
Gotta do what ya gotta do.
Yup. Lot of compromising in being a band member. And some band members compromise more than others.
I've learned a lot about that over the years.
When ironclad was around, it was a band I formed myself around music that was more or less already written.
But in putting it together I was clear about two things: (1) while this is my brainchild, this band will be a democracy and we'll all write together once we got the initial set down, and (2) I want to tour.
This of course led to problems after our first out of state trip. And since it was a democracy the dissenting voices must be heard and considered. We didn't last long after that.
So in putting together Ocean of Stars, this is my benevolent dictatorship.
I am the band leader, music director and CEO.
The drawbacks to this are me (willingly) assuming all booking/promo responsibilities, financial costs as well as taking the hit. I pay my players when I can and cover jam room expenses when I am able.
But I also learned a lot about band leaders while being a sideman.
Positive encouragement works better than ripping players a new asshole after a gig. Also big differences in being a leader vs being a boss. Plus, communication is a necessity from my end.
That being said, even in democratic bands there are usually one or two people in charge and one or two (or more) along for the ride.
You can help the people along for the ride feel a part of it as well by finding what they are good at and assigning specified tasks if needed. That and letting them know when they are doing a good job, while being able to dish out encouraging constructive criticism on things that can be improved (if needed).
I was also very mindful about finding players with not only the required technical ability but also with the right kind of personality.
Working very well so far. They trust my leadership (tho I still don't completely know what I'm doing) and really love the project and being a part, so not being able to pay them more often than not hadn't been an issue.
///blog
Great post Danny. Although I think you probably have more of an idea how to do this than you let on.
Yes, benevolent dictatorship is pretty much how I've been doing it for the last 8-10 years beings that we practice at my house, I am chief songwriter, etc... However a drummer I had a couple drummers ago was well versed in touring and such and his help in booking was much welcomed. We were a two piece and our motto was always "2 peoples bullshit is better than 3 peoples bullshit". My project now is a 2 piece.
Recording guitars, only some of my "solos" left.
Thanks Rager.
I've been in the field long enough to know what needs to be done, as well as what we are up against.
It's the whole "being in charge" thing that is taking some adjustment haha

Yeah, this place is full of Manley and Tube-Tech and generally insanely expensive gear. The Orange sounds really good, btw. Fuzzy and crunchy at the same time.
Fun stuff, hope it's going good.
bearing down hard on six songs to take when we record later this month (we record almost everything anyway, but this is our first studio recording in 5 1/2 years of playing together), of which probably four will make the cut for an album. associated pre-recording strategizing.
So you guys aren't that one album per year type of band then. Me neither.
yeah, we generally aren't in it to give a fuck about that, more about rocking out and enjoying it. we plan to enjoy rocking out the process of recording too, though, and going for the depth of vibe through all the studio shit you can't do live. we've released live stuff already, should be fun to see what we can do in different format.
Well dogspeed then.
The band I'm in called Stone Dragon is trying to locate our drummer,
We have managed to narrow it down to all of south east Asia.
where was the last place you saw them?
To be frank the most godless place in London...Croydon.
I can't stomach this recording anymore personally because of the fucked up guitar- tone, tuning/intonation, and playing but the Orogen demo cassette is finally out.
https://sarlaccproductions.bandcamp.com/album/demo-2014
Going to have a little listening session for final mastering revisions, then our new album is good to go, and should be ready on 4/21 as planned. That's assuming the art guy gets it to us in time....
After our listening party, we need to get a set list for a show on Friday the 13th in March. Should be a good time, and we have our CD release party on 4/25.
We're booking an analog studio to record two tunes to be released early summer. The place has a ton of vibe and been around since the sixties. Already met with the engineer - seems cool. On the other hand, this is our first studio outing so I'm nervous how everyone will perform under pressure. It's not cheap. Considering ironing out potential issues at a local demo studio before we head up north to do it for real.
We did some scratch recordings for our new stuff so we can listen back and see what it's like...

'kvlt'? :D It's got plenty of that unintentionally.
I've noticed a lot of bands in recent years with the 'kvlt' sound live, sometimes it's to the extent that I have to go outside and come back in after they are done playing. Or maybe I'll check back after a couple songs to see if things have improved and are a bit less kvlt sounding.

Seems to be given the internet as a limitless resource for information, shit tons of 'musicians' prefer to use it to find excuses to sound like shit instead of finding how to sound good. There are loads of 'why your audience doesn't care about tone' articles going on about how they can't tell the difference. Pisses me off because 1: its not their job to care, its the musician's, and 2: assuming your audience is stupid is shitty.

You are probably onto something here but I was just talking about bands being out of tune and not knowing it.
I find these conversations about tone/intonation etc a little worrying sometimes,.. in that I really don't know much about gear, tone, guitar set up, strings etc,...when I'm tuning up the dial rarely sits perfectly on the note for more than 2 seconds, iv never known if this is good or bad, I can see that my nut is battered, my guitar is pretty cheap when I can see that pretty much everyone else has something of a really high standard, I use bass gear because that's what I started out with and since then I've never had money to buy guitar amps, I don't keep my tuner onstage and therefor don't check between songs which is potentially bad considering I tune to A, but despite all of this I love how I sound apart from the occasional niggle. But because of all this once in a while I do wonder if there are tone trolls in the audience grumbling to themselves and judging. I guess if that's the case though then fuck it, I'm not going to become an expert, have better gear or change my ways overnight 'just incase' a few people don't like it, I'm only doing it for myself anyway...
Btw what's going on with jibbs?
For the record Im extremely fussy about my tone and will get really pissed off over it especially if I have to use other people's gear, and if I thought for a second I was out of tune Id get it sorted straight away, but again, these kinds of conversations do leave me wondering...
I like what Lumpy said though, a pristine tone can be boring, sometimes I think it lacks personality...
Hey Jem, good to hear from ya! Just play what makes you happy. Fuck the rest.
I'm unclear on Jibb. He may have gotten an extended temporary ban just cuz his user name isn't blacked out like some of the others I know that got a permaban.
Weird about Jib. Never had a problem with him and he was/is always cool.
Jem, if you're concerned about your guitar setup, take it to a pro. Setups are cheap, and since you tune low/use heavy strings your guitar could probably use some adjustments.
And even better, if you can sit there and watch /have tech explain what is being done and why.
Hey Rager :) yeah Jibbs, hope to see him back soon...
Danny I do have a guy iv been to a couple of times in the past, I should see him soon about getting the nut replaced, it's just money, always so broke! One of my strings doesn't play as nicely as the rest which I think is the nut as I said it's rather old and crumbled looking, or possibly a fret..

Most players realize when they are out tune so you are probably fine. Having a tuner onstage and checking in with it once in awhile is a good idea though. I'm a hack at guitar so I try to make sure I'm at least in tune, helps me and the band sound better.

Liking the new look mort it suits you ;)
Had a crappy weekend were we failed to meet up with a friend from Japan, the Guitarist from Leogun tried to Sell us his guitar and I witnessed the full extent of the cultural death of Central London.
So we did the only sensible thing and went home and listen to Dead period Mayhem.
Trying to book an Ocean of Stars rehearsal for mid-week.
Been busy with other projects and an RPM Challenge album that I keep forgetting we have a gig in two weeks (March 5) which still also needs a third band for the bill, and SXSW is right on the heels of that.
We still need to press our EP and get a proper website by SXSW, and that costs money :/
Rehearsal last week wasn't too shabby considering we haven't played in a month and I haven't touched the music either.
But I was curious to see how I played, as I had been playing guitar consistently in the interim.
I was rusty on pedal switching and some of the musical parts but my leads and playing in general felt pretty effortless. Awesome.
Final rehearsal tomorrow for gig Thursday night, we'll run each song twice in a row then run the set if time permits.
One OoS gig booked for SXSW, looking in to another.
I don't know if we'll be able to squeeze a rehearsal in, but considering how decent we still sounded after a month I'm not as concerned
We just released our third record.
We are playing tonight in SLC with In the Company of Serpents. We are also going to Boise ID tomorrow to play with them as well.
https://topdeadcelebrity.bandcamp.com/
Good Ocean of Stars rehearsal on Wednesday. Rather than running the set as a whole we played each song twice. Helped immensely for the show last night.
Thin turnout as it was pretty fucking cold (for Central Texas in March), and playing to a near-empty house can either be demoralizing... or not.
We chose the latter and powered through. Turned out to be a really fun set, we sounded great and the few people there were pretty blown away. Midway thru the 3rd song I could feel us really hitting the groove and we kept it going rest of the set.
Practising our set for the upcoming tour and Roadburn it's coming along nicely but I have that 'new song' itch where I'm all picky and frustrated that it's coming along ok, the difference that tempo can make to how a riff sounds is colossal, milliseconds too fast or too slow can transform it one way or another, and as usual, the bane of my musical life for the last four years, no matter how many times I remind them to play slower they still forget most of the time, next practise I'm going to have a rant they won't forget ;)
Printing and cutting out tape jcards this weekend, usually takes HOURS!! Love it all though...
I played drums in this band several years ago and eventually quit. I went to see them with their new drummer and they started at one tempo and ended up at aboput twice the tempo by the end of the song. Shit was so fast the songs that I actually wrote or co-wrote were unintelligible to me. I've quit bands because of that shit so I know how you feel. There's gonna be a bit of speed up from the live energy but a huge difference is inexcusable.
Just look back at the drummer with death eyes before a problematic song and growl the word "tempo" at him Jem.
There's always playing to a click, I guess. Some people will use a metronome set to a 'flash' to get the right tempo at the start of songs too - just glance at it and get a feel, then start... I've been thinking about giving that a shot. Nothing like playing the countoff and realizing you started way too fast or too slow.
When I play live (drummer) I've noticed that we play songs faster than we do at rehearsal just out of the gate. What's strange is I never notice until I listen to the recording afterwards.... everything seems normal during the show. Nerves/heartrate maybe?
Speaking of shows, my band is playing a show tomorrow. First time with the new kit so I'm actually glad we're opening - gives me more time to make sure everything is set up right. Had some issues with the kick drum not feeling 'right' during the last week, but then I noticed last night that the clamp screws on the pedal had come undone. Whoops. Fuckin' drum gear.
For my bandmates and myself, I think it's the adrenalin/excitement factor when we notice playing faster than the song should be.
Hey nyarlathotp, have a great gig, man!
Yes. Everyone have great gigs! (And don't play too fast ;) )
A good gesture (that you may have to explain to the drummer first) to reign in the tempo is to move your guitar neck in a sort of setting-the-hook fishing gesture. That means REEL IT IN, ie SLOW THE FUCK DOWN...!
If playing too slow, one thing singers who play instruments can do (while singing) is use one foot to tap onto the ground behind them at the proper tempo, or as an indication to speed up in general. Explain this to your drummer as well if he doesn't know it already.
If your drummer plays with his/her eyes closed, they need to stop that shit IMMEDIATELY.
Giving cues that look like rock moves, as opposed to obvious-to-the-crowd frustrated death stares, is the way to go. Always make it look to the audience that nothing is wrong. Even if the song is threatening to fly apart into molten fragments from wrong tempos.
Heh, thanks guys. Good advice, Danny. Fortunately not something I have an issue with, since I'm the drummer and I have yet to get a single tempo-stare-of-death. Maybe some day...
Do you play with your eyes closed? heh :)
Not unless the sweat gets in my eyes, which is why I try and always wear a headband or bandana :P Looks stupid, but if I don't then I basically just drown in sweat.
Picked up an acoustic bass coupla weeks ago. Guitarist came round and had a go at an acoustic arrangement of the set. Will totally work, probably because I wrote all the parts unplugged. Means when the record is done, can play acoustic nights and if anyone digs enough to buy a CD, only to later be disgusted by it being horrible droney electric stuff.
Next gig is in 2 weeks, we're playing with Audrey Horne. Should be fun :)
Preparing to go and record some songs for our first demo/album "Dweller on the Threshold"
cool title..
my band can only practice on weekends sporadically, so I am looking to start a weekday band... *sigh*
We
finally got around to putting out some new tunes. we were hoping to do a full length but completely ran out of time after 4 songs. (we did lay down drum tracks for a couple more though so hopefully can get round to finishing those off later this year)
And if anyone is in Germany over the next month, we're heading over to trade riffs for beer so keep an eye out
www.rifffist.bandcamp.com
that riff fist sounds massive :o :o :o
Just signed to Ripple music and hitting the road again, this time with Fuzz Evil.
Just played a good show after coming out of winter writing hibernation. Rocked 3 new songs and they got good feedback. Hoping to save up some money from gigging this summer and record our new material.
About to start hitting up friends again to get opening slots for Ocean of Stars.
We need to play shows with actual bands rather than whatever random hodgepodge the venue has thrown together.
Hoping they will be more receptive to it. The lack of progress in this area (me talking to clubs) is driving me to fucking distraction. But I need to remember that we don't have a physical CD yet, but hopefully will be remedying that end of this month.
I'll hit people up more often and follow up in a timely manner. I get busy and forget shit all the time as well haha
Man. Doing my taxes has made me prickly... :/
everyone's jacked up schedule in my band means we wont get to practice this weekend either. We have not practiced in two weeks.
I put up ads for musicians that can practice on weekdays but does not seem to be any interest. I will put up some more ads. I am thinking of stopping renting that practice room once this month is over and going back into my apartment 'woodshed' and working heavily on my personal abilities. Ill make that decision after this weekend, maybe Ill rent it for one more month and work on my drumming and singing more. I have been renting that practice studio for 4 months and it has been a dud so far really...I mean folks cant seem to make time to practice. so I better work on my own stuff.
I'd suggest maybe do hourly rooms but if people are going to flake on you...
Shit. Ocean of Stars just got a gig offer for end of the month but bassist will be out of state.
Not end of the world, same night is Tia Carerra and Amplified Heat at Lost Well. Which I was planning on attending to hit up both bands about gigs and talk to the booking agent there
Tia is awesome! I dig their albums. they have been around Austin a long time. I wanted to see amplified heat as well, sigh
ya this original heavy rock band idea I had is a real bust, I am gonna go back into the woodshed and save up some money that way prolly; let someone else herd the catz
Amp Heat has been making a booking push as of late, you'll have a chance to see them. And yeah you need to see both!
Yes. Cat herding. I'm so glad the cats I have are very ok with the herding haha. Especially with the weird shit that we play I'm happy to have people who are into it
very cool brutha, good luck to you and your catz ;D

Not 100% there, but new song in the can now
having uninspired band practices and watching other bands put in 100% more effort, working as a team and achieving results. knowing I'm just as to blame but my get up and go has got and went. cry me a river!
damn you truth.
We are gearing up for our CD release party next weekend, the official release date for our new album is Tuesday 4/21, and we are working on writing a lot of new material. Things are going well, just very busy.

I don't think I've mentioned my band around here before, but we just finished our record and it's free on Bandcamp right now.
The goal was to really push the band into the fringes of heavy music with absurd tempos, tuning, song length, and an over the top live presentation. I'm expecting that only a fairly small percentage of people are going to actually dig it, but the hope is that the few who might, will like it a lot.
Feel free to give it a listen. It's really pretty goddamned heavy.

yeah dude, dig it.
The rest of the band are off on holiday with there wives and I'm left looking for an artist to do some art work for the cover of demo, "Dweller on the Threshold"
a couple more rehearsals before we go in to record our 4th record. i'm the only guitarist this time around so should be a little different.
Yeah dude, that's really, really good. Honestly, I was expecting another super slow generic doom/sludge type thing based on your description, and was pleasantly surprised at how forward thinking and original sounding this material is. Really, really good....
We've been gigging every month since December, 3 this month and 2 planned for June. We've only set up one of these shows, all of the rest have been invites. Crazy! Probably taking next month off to record a 3 song ep although if we get an invite we'll probably accept it.
Finalizing artwork for long-overdue Ocean of Stars EP.
Now to move it to my lady's computer to transfer from RGB to CMYK (my computer has the Time Bandits font but only Photoshop Elements, hers has full Photoshop but the font is $20-30 to put it on her computer).
Hoping the process goes smoothly and I don't have to redesign the whole damn thing on her computer
Also the Bleu Edmondson Band continues to get more and more musically interesting/challenging.
Hired as bassist back in November, was moved to 2nd guitar in January.
Was already ecstatic about that, finally playing guitar full time *and* making bass player money. Even tho I'm technically the rhythm player I was more than happy with this arrangement.
Now I'm working more with the other guitar player to branch out. Dividing up the solos and doing parts that compliment each other, little Allman Bros type licks etc. The other guy is more than capable of handling himself, but mixing it up adds to the dynamic range of the band as a whole.
Plus, the added benefit of my guitar rig being dialed in for Ocean of Stars and Thunderosa gigs (can't set it up at home to fuck with)
Bring it on! Already feels great to branch out more in this music as a player.
Yes! We're going into the studio to record shit! ;D
this is now the third incarnation of my band...
first incarnation = without warning members quit and left after 1.5 months just when it was time for them to help pay the rent
second incarnation = a few jam sessions and then fizzled out due to jacked up schedules
third incarnation = got a drummer and bassist that say they are committed. I am stopping renting that room, I need to go in on renting a room with others. We are looking at a bigger room in a different location. I have been doing double duty as a the only singer and only guitarist so far; need to get a committed singer really. WOuld like another professional type heavy rock guitarist.

if you can handle the vocal duties as well as guitar..do it. its one less person to deal with and you are covering the two key front positions..you get the luxury of dictating where the music goes for the most part..
Playing monday night as a duo opening for Hedersleben and St. James & the Apostles. Our third member is probably not able to play out any longer due to a weird thing with his wife that I can't quite understand. I could elaborate, but it's late. We've got another gig on friday. It would be much better if he was present for these gigs, but we'll do alright. Short sets, minimal gear, no problem.

Ocean of Stars EP sent to printer today. Should be ready by end of week. Yay! Bout fucking time.
Now we can so some real booking as we have a physical copy of music, like a real band \m/,

NICE! If I was to be horrid I could only say that there are aspects I've heard before, obvz, but that bouncing, lolloping riff makes it. the sound, tone, intent and everything is great! you could fit in on any of the bigger euro fests immediately. great work.
Yeah.
I also just gave Jake's Matriarch stuff a listen—absolutely monstrous!!
Dense & expansive as a big hit of black hash smoke.
Boom!

cool artwork!
Jakes stuff is always killer but that is just some well produced heavy stuff! I would like to know more about the production on that one, great tunes.
Hey, thanks for the kind words fellas.
The recording itself was done fairly ghetto and came in right at the allotted budget of $0. I mic'ed the drums up the best I could w/ three SM57s going into a shitball '70s Peavey powered PA head into Channel 1 of my cheap-o USB interface. Channel 2 was for a decent condenser mic which was placed on the kick. The bass/vox/guitars were overdubbed over the next month or so in Cubase. My friend Zak was able to pull those tracks into Logic Pro and polish them turds into an actual semi-listenable demo.
*It's worth noting that a great deal of legal Colorado "freedom flower" was combusted at every stage for maximum heavy metal superpowers.
Great job. And amazing sound for a low-budget recording.
Can you/do you guys play those songs live?
cool brutha, sounds great :)
so I quit renting that studio last month. without having to figure out all the last minute flakey logistics of cat herding I am able to work daily harder on my singing and guitar :)
I am saving up for an electronic drumset for the apartment, since I miss playing that tho :(
Since you already have a set (unless that went away), you might want to look into putting mesh drumheads on it. Really close feel to actual drums, but a little bouncier. It does mean that you'd need triggers and so on to record with it, however, and you'd still need to get electronic cymbals, but it's a lot cheaper than getting the mesh-head triggers. Those fuckers are like $300 each.
We just finished an arduous t-shirt creation process. Since time is short these days, we decided to commission a design, but we still ended up spending a ton of time nitpicking colors and logo layout with the band. I'm not sure we actually saved any time at all in the end.

Album art for our next EP is finished up too:

Haven't much luck getting early coverage of it... I guess that's fair since it's a pretty short EP and we're not exactly big time.
Whoah. Nice!
I'm diggin' that Ocean of Stars and Matriarch stuff. Keep it coming guys.
Thanks man, good to see you round these parts as well \m/,
cool art! ya there are some amazing musicians on this forum for sure. I have the drumset still but I think doing that would be too loud for my quiet apartment, but what a great idea though :)

Baby steps, baby steps. Ramon's interested, have leads for 3-4 jam spaces, including one Ramon has an in to. Re-learning all the old tunes. Reassembling a playable drumkit.
Baby steps, but it's really happening! ;D

Yep. I'll be blowing a few years of dust outta the Big Rig tonight!

First Sandia Man rehearsal in 3+ years last night. If we didn't sound exactly like the old days, neither did we sound like 3 guys who hadn't so much as been in the same room together for 3+years! Rust here and there , a few "misremembered" parts, but the magic still happens, and there's lots of music yet to be made.
Stoked! ;D
Yeah, I'm totally stoked!
That last little freeform jam was the icing on the rock cake.
Wish we'd recorded it—next time I'll bring the Tascam & we'll start leaving it running at every practice.
That's awesome!

That is awesome, congrats duders!!
Working on new material with Palace. We've got two recordings we're simultaneously writing for, a split 12" that the details are forthcoming for, and a new full length album. The split so far is more old school sounding Hawkwind/Monster Magnet type stuff. The full length is....something else entirely....
nice Alan and Jon! Glad to hear
I think I am in a new band now. Went and jammed some Music MAchine tunes with some other established guys I know on sunday. They got all excited and started talking about names, so I guess it's a thing now. I am the youngest guy in this group of dudes and we're all friends, so it's pretty cool.
My soundscape thing is still going. Got a gig next month and have been getting tons of listens on our soundcloud stuff. Mainly one track that seems be be popular with online gamers. I check the stats and it's all the netherlands and wisconsin via some d&d shit or some kind of app that connects with soundcloud for tabletop rpg something or other. Like 300 plays in one day, several days in a row from that. Interesting world we live in.
I'm in the process of booking some shows for the band. First one up is with Destruction Unit, pretty cool!
I guess it's safe to let this cat outa the bag;
We'll be doing a short set opening Gordyfest 2015 in Albuquerque. ;D
If you're drawing a blank, look in GD. It's all there.
Congrats. Forgive me, but I ain't dipping my toe in that cesspool for details.
just mastered our new Cd. we rarely play live anymore but have a couple of shows lined up.
oh it sounds like this

new EP we just put out.

holy shit, can't believe this thing is still going on. I swung in to give my condolences in the GD forum about potbelly and saw this!
So: my band is just getting back to where we need to be as a 3 piece: https://www.facebook.com/Redlegmusic?fref=ts
recording before the end of the year, probably 4 or 5 songs. yeah. fuck.
We had a sweet article written about us in the local paper

Starting gigging soon, got about an album of ready material and another one not so ready. Currently practicing our live set. Eventhough the scene is small here, there's some awesome people and bands around.
