So what if it has an inline fracture in the neck, and a separating fretboard? I've been playing it for the passed 45 minutes, and even with those bullshit issues, it still sounds damn good, and plays pretty sweet, to boot. Someone dropped it on the knobs (crushing the cavity), I'm probably not going to dick with it. It's also riddled with screw holes from gay nametags or something.
It's black. I own zero black guitars out of 15?
I have to find some pickup rings for it, and possibly a new stop tail/bridge. It doesn't seem to have studs... weird.
What other rad Yamaha/Jap Gibson ripoff guitars should I keep my eyes out for?
http://www.yamaha.co.jp/product/guitar/archive/
ROWDY plays two Yamahas. I think SG2000s. I used to play a couple old Yamaha BB basses but ditched them in favor of a couple G&L L-2000s. Old Yamaha shit is rad though for sure.
I really dig those guitars. Yours must be and early one. Yamaha was eventually forced to change them to SBG. Also known as the Les Paule Killer. Nice score ;)
It's heavy, and beat up. I love it. Soon as I get the fretboard glued back down, and the inline fracture glued up it'll be golden. Too bad I have to strip the entire neck because I don't feel like getting stabbed with paint chips constantly. It'll get oiled and waxed. It'll be baby smooth.
Post some pics man. I love those Yamaha SG's.

:( :( :( Look at the fucking fret, the douchebag who broke the neck and didn't reglue it filed the fret down so it wouldn't buzz because the neck was broken. Looks like I'll have to recrown that motherfucker, too. /wrists.

It'll buff out, I'm sure. I'm gonna sand all the bullshit off the neck, and just fade to black (hahaha) at the neck joint, and at the headstock. I'll just oil and wax the back of the neck after sanding all of the mehhhhh off it. Most likely tomorrow.
In other news, the Droid X takes some fucking boss up-close shots from time to time...
I'm debating whether I should dowel it or not. If it feels solid after all the sanding, I'll leave it be.
Is that a bolt neck or set neck? BTW, if you ever decide to get rid of it let me know. I may have some trade bait for you...
That is a nasty looking break. I don't think in a million years I'd come up w/ the idea of filing down a fret to fix buzzing caused by a broken neck. I think it'd actually take less time to just glue the neck. Maybe if I had to play it that night or something....
It's a set neck. The glue should be dry this morning, I'm gonna go over and sand it down to 220+ and give her the first coat of oil... then get started on the fretwork.
Interesting. The lower end SG's are usually bolt necks.
I was thinking the same thing, but it's a big ol' hunk of mahogany. The electronics are weird, there's a board in there, all the pots are mounted to the board. Don't care, long as they work. Fired right up when I plugged it in yesterday. I'll shoot some more pictures of the repair when I go over today, just checked the thermometer and it says 99, where I am. It's 10:26AM.
Just out of curiosity.. what is this aforementioned trade bait?
Ha, thought you were ignoring that.
A Danolectro Danoblaster with distortion built in (and stereo or quasi stereo output).

i always wanted one of those dano blasters. seriously. it looks like an f-ed up mosrite, right?
Yeah, it's pretty cool. I'll post a picture of it later.
Sorry to derail your thread SunnO))). Carry on with the resto, it's interesting.
The 200 is set-neck with no top, no binding, no pickup covers. The most like an SG (special). The others are more like Les Paul Customs with horns. I had a sg500b, it was set neck but had a cap and binding. Really cool guitars.
No worries, Deany. Its done, actually. Sand out and set up . Its a player!
Note, that is not my normal voice.
Whatever Spicoli.
Sounds like 74 bucks well spent.
Your voice is fffiiine. :D

That Danoblaster is neato. I want it.
Nice work on the repair. Surprised you had it done so quick (Im a procrastinator).
Hey, those Guyatone TZ2 fuzzes are cool... they can get real nasty.

Bidding war? Just kidding. I'd love to trade the Danno for that Yamaha, but if Sunno isn't interested I am open to trading/selling it.

It's not subtle. Not a toy either.
Definitely a sleeper pedal. I think they stopped making them, too... Small, lightweight, inexpensive, sturdy, nice switch, what's not to love. 30 years from now, the rubber gasket thingy will fall apart... but we'll all be dead by then.
/hijack
I think the Yamaha is a permanent collection piece. It's a doll. The action is a little high, but it makes me play shit differently. I like it...
Trade it to Gabe, he'll play with it! haha.
I think I'm going to do this for a while. If you cats want to buy bullshit beater guitars, and have me refurb them for shipping/material/parts, I'll do it... I love doing it. It's funnnnn.
^serious?^
Are you in the U.S. and if so, what region?
Damn... But I don't blame you.
Hmm, I have a FedEx account and a guitar that qualifies as a beater that has serious fret end problems...
And if someone really wants that Danoblaster PM me.
Yeah, I won't charge you cats labor or any of that jazz. You can buy the parts and have 'em shipped to me, or I'll buy the parts, and you pay me, whatever need be. It's good practice.
I'm in Tallahassee, FL.
Whatcha got Deany? What kind of fret issues? High/lifting/missing?

^^^this.
A Galveston bolt neck lucite Les Paul. Fret ends that poke out and I haven't ever been able to get the intonation right. Don't remember if any were high - put it away til I had time to do something with it, but you know how that goes. I'll post pictures of it tonight.

It DOES sound pretty.
Post pics, if its a bolty, you can take the neck off and seriously cut down on shipping costs. Im a filing machine.
hey sunn, i have a dearmond les paul copy with a twisted neck . . . anything you can do with that?
Clamp it to something perfectly true, and apply humidity, let dry. If it twists again, there's no savin' it. It could probably be fretted out, but that kind of eats dick... is it a bolty or set neck? If i sanded the finish off the neck, it would probably take, since there is nothing protecting it from the moisture. Then apply oil and wax. Baby smooth. The SG is fast and smooth...

Shit man, that's no fun. I'll send the whole guitar so you can play with it as long as you post pics/video.
Shh - I don't really have to pay for the shipping...
cool. it would probably just be cheaper for me to buy a new guitar!
There's a Danelectro available...
Sunn, here it is:

Post a pic, Justin... dearmonds aren't bad, if we can salvage it, even for a slide guitar or something, we should... Deany, they didn't roll the frets at the factory, it looks like. Easy as pie to fix. If you really wanna send 'er, shoot me a PM, you'll get a neato lucite les paul to play with.
Sure, I'll get in touch with you next week when I get back from New Orleans. I'll send you something extra - I've got something in mind for you...
Killer! If it's inflatable, make sure to pack it separately, don't want any punctures from those jagged frets... :D
