These aren't songs, but some initial riffs I shat out for a project with some friends around the country. The goal is to eventually make the absolute heaviest music that can possibly be made – which is different for everyone. But for me, it's akin to the Melvins at halfspeed buttfucked into Buried at Sea, playing Furry Lewis on a marijuana overdose.

The name is the most "metal" thing we could come up with, which is an umlaut over an inverted cross.

Telebastard?

Also, excellent name. Metal needs more people with a sense of humor.

edit: keep pushing on this project. Would listen.

Jake

Les Paul this time. I needed to tune down super low (drop G i think?) with big strings and didn't want to fuss with the Telebastard.

jam room recording from a couple months ago.  been working on new stuff so hopefully we'll have more soon.

That a phaser or an envelope filter on the bass at the beginning?  Nice tones throughout like the flangey guitar in the middle.  MOAR FLANGE.

Anyways below is the guitar player in my band's solo project.  Pretty badass what he's got so far up thought you guys might like it.

just catching up.

In the intro I am using a 3Leaf Audio Proton envelope filter on the bass.  The flangy guitar is a phase 90.

and here is another one we are working on

been a while since I checked out this thread more. good stuff. mutant's hawkbutt stuff is really nice. caught the vibe nicely.
does monobrow ever disappoint?

The first tune on our facebook/reverbnation page is brand new.  Just came out on a local comp last week.  Recorded in our jam space, mixed in my dining room.

heh chile, I really like that shit kickin stuff.   that right there could sell me off of working on a psych trance type project.

hell ya! heh

you know what sucks tho? I am having trouble scrutinizing the mix. the song keeps getting in the way.  boring songs are better for studying the mix, no distractions.

in a way, maybe that IS the holy grail....never a thought about the mix whilst listening idk....

maybe I need to listen to hawkbutt ( AND the real hawkwind) some more to get straightened out again, but damn, I want to have fun too.
Hate to say it, but Jackyl has fun.  I would put those guys live against any other band fro just having a good time. Also J James has never forgotten about the fans and it shows.

chille01

Thanks for the kind words Jiberish!  I'll take a compliment on the song itself over the mix any old day of the week.  Cheers!

That hawkbutt stuff is mine. It's called cerebral vibrator, but butthawk or whatever is a fun name. It's my new band project.  Got people who want to play it and help write more.

jibberish

eyeprod, I know that is you. that description was so right on, i was having some fun with it.  really good stuff. my overall aim is also in that direction, but shit kicking good times rock is a strong pull. too much fun.
you would probably kill me if you heard what i built on top of one of your bass/drum rhythm tracks in that one thread.
the "eqypt stinks" song heh.

eyeprod

Jake, ümlaut inverted cross sounds really great, pretty hypnotising groove on Deux and sweet tone, I like the bell tinks on Un that always sounds badass ;)

Dig. Reminds me of Floor in a very, very good way!!

Here's something I think I'm going to start putting some time into. I'm calling it Like Opium Feels because I want it to be the sonic equilalent of what it feels to be imbued in opium. Delicate, airy, warm, safe, dreamy, etherial, etc. – the opposite end of the spectrum from what the umlaüt inverted cross will be, I suppose.

Haven't really had time to catch up on any forums much lately but my band finally did a serious recording on a couple of our songs.  You fellas will like the second track Yeren a lot (its a song about a Chinese yeti).  Thanks to the people that gave me some tips in a past thread we ended up recording at this place in Aurora called Gremlen studios the price to quality ratio was way too good.  Think the guy did a fantastic job recording it.

Here are two new Low Gravity tracks from our upcoming split. We had fun with these.

ive been trying to do something similar for some time now. a while back I really got into bands like Low, Richmond Fontaine, Earth ...slow, minimal, airy shit.
If you ever want any steel guitar on those let me know, I d love to, sounds great Jake.
I liked the UIC stuff too.
this one has some dobro in the beginning , then pedal steel kicks in ...

Well goddamn, goddamn! That Low Gravity sounds like a '72 Cuda that's been painted with bong resin. Cannot wait to hear it on proper vinyl.

Chovis – email me. That last song you posted is fantastic.
