bbottom, these guys may have some more "moves" for your Mass Driver stage moves arsenal. that guitar player rules IMO

thx for the video editing info droney.  I was playing with a shareware program called filmora after I studied up on that sony studio13 platinum info and the video you linked, to see what I could see before starting to buy stuff. like how you did. heh..
got it installed and I went right for the split screen stuff. filmora is fully functional except it watermarks any output or buy it for $50, just like the sony.

cool man, Sony works good for me, with too many big file videos going at once my computer crashes, so I render the split screen video and then splice parts together of videos in Reaper and mix with the final audio.

haha. I wasn't implying anything. I just was noticing that from a perspective of playing both.

BTW, those three guys just ruined everything.
actually those things are fun.
keyboards cannot replace guitars and guitars cannot replace keyboards. people really need to be able to play both AND drums actually..

Mortay,  does your friend, or you, or whomever owns that Moog Voyager want to sell that thing?
those are not cheap, in fact those may be the most expensive small synth there is.

not even sure why I am asking, but you never know what the deal is until you find out..

RacerX

Quotenot even sure why I am asking

thx, but no. don't trouble your pal.
I knew that would be out of my range, but I had to check.

like if he had an old lambo in the garage, you just have to find out the scoop just in case.

The Knoxville Roller Derby team put on a carnival, of sorts, to benefit a dog rescue and some other local organizations. They had fire jugglers, a burlesque show, some aerial trapeze chick (who's body was just dynamite) a bunch of cross dressers, vendors and some bands. Well Mass Driver was the last to go because....we're the best.

The thing took place at the roller girls practice facility. Which is basically a warehouse. It was a million degrees in the place. But we went at it just as hard as we always do. It was the first time that I ever really thought about playing without a shirt on.

It was super awesome. The girls were skating around in front of us while we played. And since I always use my 30ft cable with that band, I was able to run out there with them while they skated around. It was a blast.

The guy who manages them really dug us and is going to have us play during half time at one of their games (apparently they are called "bouts") next season.

Next Saturday we're playing at the Tennessee Arm Wrestling Championship.....and I am super pumped about it. Two hundred Arm Fighters (that's the actual term) and us bringing the thunder. Then as soon as we're done we're going into surf mode and the Appalachian Surf team is going  to play at a wedding.

Good times!!!

Friend of mine scored an Ampeg V4 for $50 at a thrift store. The power tubes are mismatched but he replaced the power cord(fireworks!!!) and it actually works.

everdrone

wow those ampeg v4s sound great, good luck to him!  Nice Mass Driver gigs!

here is my update:

I am getting ready to record a doom song this weekend.  also I want to start some collaborations on bandhub.com in the next week or so.

Productive month!
Did a ton of research on Tunecore vs CD Baby vs Distrokid.  They are all good but each has their pros and cons.
One of my tracks got picked up by ESPN for some MMA promo stuff. Might even get to do another for them.
Tentative album release on Sept 2 providing all goes well.  Already getting prepared for another release.

everdrone

wow thats awesome, congrats!

If he wants to revalve it, don't go for the JJ 7027, they don't work like they should.

So this past weekend my buddy flew in from AZ and we got together to have band practice for this screamo thing I played with back in the 90s. Üblisch. First band practice in 18 years.

I'm not on these recordings, but this is the music.
Vinyls.   deal.

Ocean of Stars finally got together to work on some new music.

We're still doing the Tuesday residency gig at Beerland and will talk extending through September as well.

Crowds have of course been mostly lackluster haha but for now the point of these is to get us playing regularly and get the existing music tight, so when we meet to rehearse its for new material.

Finally able to juggle schedules for that yesterday. Working in three new pieces of music.

Some much more intricate and darker/weirder/heavier shit to balance out our two newest songs which were more melodic and straight forward.

And of course we can't rehearse again as a band until after the Tuesday gig in 2 weeks, so it'll take some time before it's ready to debut. Will meet with the sax player next week to hash out parts.

The original solo recording of one tune is 9 minutes long...

New material is always refreshing for the band - feels like progress.

Danny G

Right?

I'll also have to meet with the bassist and sax player individually to show them parts. Saves time over showing them the parts in the jam room. And also a good excuse to hang out with them outside of a gig/rehearsal :)

Actually restrung BOTH of my basses today. Can't remember when I did that last.

It's like planets aligning or some shit.

What strings do you use. I usually just grab whatever is available at the time.

Danny G

I stupidly tried shit out and found out what I like. Which of course, is usually pricier than cheaper shit, and harder to find in a pinch.

Steel wound/hex core. In order of brand preference:

1- DR (grey box)
2- Dean Markley Blue Steel
3- D'addario Pro Steels

I think I'm done with George L cables.

One went out on my guitar board awhile back. Redid it. Still doesn't fucking work >:(

Fuck it. Replacing them with the cheap shit as they fail.

Yes they sound better. But the cheap shit WORKS.

Anyone ever mess around with a 6 string bass. Been thinking about getting one for some stupid reason. Are they all active. Can you get one that's passive?

black aspirin

I think they're only available as passive-aggressive
This Juan goes to 11.
