Well, the cat is out of the bag....Paul Litewka and I met at a show, and someone had suggested that the two of us talk about gear. I said that it might not go well, as I'm very opinionated when it comes to the gear that I like. He said we definitely should talk then, because he also has a lot of ideas and opinions!

Out of that conversation, the initial ideas for the Illumination+ came into being.  It's modeled after my old, beloved and now broken MXR Distortion+ that's been the core of my guitar sound on the Black Pyramid recordings, all the way from that first fateful version of Visions Of Gehenna.

However, this pedal has been stacked with top quality parts and electronics, added oomph in the form of some much needed extra gain, and a diode selector for different options in coloring the tone: classic germanium diode like the original Distortion+, no diode for smoother tones, and an LED mode for more modern, intense saturation.

As anyone who has seen the recent life shows can attest - this thing is mean sounding. Paul was able to quickly capture what I was looking for in a distortion pedal, and bring those ideas to fruition, adding his own twists and innovations to the mix. I'm psyched to be using the Illumination+, as my setup has never sounded bigger or better!

There's some details. There's a bass versions well. I'll post more as the details come in.

I guess you solved your tone quest, I remember last year you were on here asking for suggestions for a new pedal.

Yup!! I use this for both bands now, just different diode modes. It works stellar, I'm really fortunate to have hooked up with PLX.

Is the link you posted the right one? It appears to just be a Facebook event for a killer show I'm about 500 miles away from.

Good call, I've fixed the link yo.
